As you know, I've been angry at the way my perfectly legitimate (though unpopular) opinions were regularly being deleted. Is this a "discussion board" or not?

And now a mentally ill stalker who has been harassing me for eleven years now has suddenly resurfaced to continue his sick vendetta against me, yet NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT?? Even though every single message he has posted has been dripping with psychopathic hatred of ME, and never mentions a TV show or a movie? Wow. Just wow.

These boards have always had the worst searchability of any I've ever seen and now it's clear that they're not even being properly moderated. They haven't been for a long time.

This board has become worse than grotesque. There's no reason to let it limp along for another two weeks, when it's already in steady decline. Put it out of its misery, and the sooner the better.

Even if what you say about Tgdoignis were true, you're no better than he is in any case.

Gee, I wouldn't have had to retype all that if I could have just pulled that out to copy and paste it. It doesn't seem fair that SOME of you seem to have resources that are denied to the rest of us. Did they give you keys to the archives or something? Hardly fair.

You have all day to waste digging for things while I constantly find myself spending time I don't have to spare, looking for things that would take mere seconds on a board with any kind of decent searchability. There's really no excuse at all for how piss-poor it is on here.

Gone are the days when there seemed to be about 25 PAGES of threads you could at least scroll through. Now we have one page, and the threads fall off into oblivion in a mere couple of weeks, and for MOST of us they're lost. How are they still available to you?

I don't know how it works for IMDB-Pro members, but for me, it looks like this site has the worst searchability I've ever seen. Most forums I contribute to have a search window so you can look up who said what. I've even used it to copy and paste MYSELF, when I was getting tired of saying the same things over and over.

I have a list of my real friends on here, and what their real names are, from when I've received PMs or e-mails from them. But I gave up long ago trying to remember who else is who, and what name they're using currently much less every single thing they've ever said, and what led up to their saying it, and what the actual context of the statement was. Most of us have other things to do with our lives that demand our attention.

Frankly, if someone hasn't been rude to me lately, then I'm not fighting with them anymore. I can't be bothered maintaining a "grudge list", much less mining it to dredge up old news to push in their faces, which they probably don't even remember saying.

The psychopathology is much more than obvious. He's going to be in jail before long, if he doesn't get the psychiatric help he clearly needs so desperately.

You've told us twice now what it's not, and now you've told us what you think it is but the question all along has been WHY you think it's polite to jump up just because a woman walks in the room. Here we go again. As I've already explained several times now, I didn't recall using those words in that context (which turned out to be a question asked in exasperation after HOURS of back and forth, when you just did not seem to be getting it even after repeated explanation). I LOOKED for it, but the searchability on this board is the worst I've ever seen. If you expect me to apologize for how impossible it is for us mortals to find ANYTHING AT ALL on here, you'll have a long wait.

And I've also told you several times that my "self-righteous indignation" was sarcasm, which you should have noticed I use often and that when I realized I was mistaken, I immediately REMOVED the offending message which you've dredged up and reposted a whopping FIFTEEN times now, just to make sure everyone knows what once happened in ancient history. You're dishonest enough to misuse my words, which were phrased as a QUESTION to you, thrown out in exasperation AFTER arguing with you for three days about things you just were NOT getting (and you're still slow on the uptake, by the looks of it.), to try to pretend that's what the dispute had been about all along. Obviously it WASN'T, since it was apparently said at the end of a very long day of squabbling with you.

Yes, that's an idea that a lot of people have trouble with. For example, when I was doing computer consulting/contracting, I wound up at a place where, while I was there, the upper management decided that everyone had to wear a tie because it was unfair to only make the salespeople do it, even though they were the only ones who went out and met other people etc. I refused, and quit. My manager would say "why bother getting upset or whatever? Life is too short!" What I came to realize is that to a lot of people, "Life is too short" has come to mean, Tolerate EVERYTHING. To me, it means the opposite. Life is too short for me to put up with that kind of BS. And many other kinds as well.

I think there's no doubt whatsoever that Randall (the long-suffering husband of the airhead chatterbox who didn't even seem to care if he was there) was coming on to Jack. Gay men can often recognize each other, through very subtle cues that aren't noticeable to non-gay people.

It's clear to the realists among us that Jack was at the point where he was ready to give up on Ennis, and "settle" for Randall instead. (Although he looked so hot with that beard that he wouldn't have had to ask me twice.)

And later, when Old Man Twist mentions "this other fella" who was going to come up with him and whip the ranch into shape, it had to be Randall. He was pushing it in Ennis's face that "It should have been YOU."

A sequence was filmed showing Jack and Randall driving into a service station together, under the hostile glares of homophobic grease monkeys, who have access to tire irons. (They are still listed in the cast, and can be glimpsed in one of the trailers). Later, a decision was made to omit that spelling-out, to make it more ambiguous what had really happened to Jack.

As a cinematic technique, I'd say that was valid but it's a shame that so many people delude themselves into thinking that Jack was NOT murdered. The theme was "rural homophobia", yet it pulled back from showing that the frequent consequence of it is brutality against gay men.

I don't think Jack was killed on a ranch. It was in a roadside ditch. But it was NOT the tire rim that killed him it was the tire iron, wielded by homophobic goons who, incredibly, somehow think their discomfort about another man's sexuality is a justification for murdering him.

I know you're really right about that, CS. There was actually a time when I had weaned myself off these boards entirely, and I was a much happier person.

But on days when the weather is crap, like too often lately, I've slipped back into the habit of spending time on here, since it's just too ugly out to feel like going shopping and the hours just slip away.

When I first came out, I knew the script to "The Boys in the Band" by heart. I had the original Broadway cast recording, and then later went to see the movie.

I was annoyed at how William Friedkin (who I think had a few issues he needed to deal with), changed the movie and made the same lines much darker. Many lines in the play that were said with a chuckle or a laugh were said in the movie with bitterness in the voice and a lingering "see the suffering in his eyes" shot. Looking back, it was almost grotesque but who knew any better?

Back to the OP, though,[redacted] always seems like a harmless goof, but have you checked some of the things this Iow is posting? I can only hope it's his warped idea of a joke. I quote:

Good letter. It's too bad AMPAS doesn't know or care what anyone else thinks. I know a lot of gay men who, every year, have always hosted Oscar parties, which were almost like a religious observance. Not ONE of them is even going to bother to watch it next year, much less plan a party around it.

Last year was the first year in many that I even bothered to watch the Oscars, because for many years, it's been nothing better than a fashion show where they pretend to award quality while simply rewarding whoever happens to be popular in Hollowood society at the moment. The Academy had one last thin shred of credibility left and they blew it. I won't be watching it again.

And anybody who actually thinks that Hoffman's Truman Capote imitation was of the same calibre of acting as Heath Ledger's stunning incarnation of Ennis doesn't understand what acting is. Ledger's performance set a new high standard for REAL actors to aim for.

If you check the L-O-N-G list of awards that Brokeback Mountain won (posted elsewhere on this board), you already know what movie really was the best picture of 2006. It's just pathetic how many people seem to think that it couldn't have been the best because the only one it didn't win was the Oscar! They really need to get a clue.

I saw it on December 8, 2005, at a special advanced benefit showing. The theatre had a terrible sound system, and it was so packed by the time I got there that I had to sit in the very front row, way off to the left, so all the faces were distorted.

I didn't like (okay I HATED) the movie at first, because I wanted it to be something else I wanted (NEEDED) a beautiful love story with a happy ending. It pissed me off that every creepy straight couple in Hollywood always gets a happy ending, but two guys sure as hell weren't going to get one. I was annoyed at all the time devoted to rejected wives, when they really didn't have a choice. I walked home afterwards, and thought about it for a long time after, and decided I should have just let it be what it was, not expect what I wanted it to be.

So on its official opening day here, which was December 16, 2005, I was at a recently refurbished theatre for the VERY FIRST matine showing on the first day. (I recognized a gay judge in the line-up going in.)

They were playing the sound track in the theatre, as we were waiting for the lights to go down, and I was fine until the first mournful chords of "the Wings" started up and suddenly I was reaching for my Kleenex! To everyone else, it was just a pretty tune, but I had already seen it, and knew how it fit into the movie.

I saw it eleven more times in different theatres in Vancouver and Seattle, and pre-ordered the DVD long before it was available, so I got one of the first ones released. And I'm still stopping by here, more than a year later!!!

And the fact that the so-called "news media" are staying silent is an absolute disgrace.

I've been to Istanbul in each of the last three years, and spoke Turkish the entire time, including the six times when I went through airport security.
