The Big Bang Theory : [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

[FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

Ok, put your pom pom's down cheerleaders we need to talk !

So i was thinking of whether they will go past season 11.

Not likely.. the show is *almost dead. (you will all be lucky to even get a season 11)

This page backs up my claims..
https://moviepilot.com/p/what-we-know-about-big-bang-theory-season-11-and-why-it-faces-cancellation/4155553

The reality is once a show gets too big it implodes with actors wanting more & more.
They get denied eventually and the public chants they are GREEDY.
Just as i seen people saying on that link above in the comments.

so.. i got to thinking.

Let's see if i can pull some rough numbers out of the air to REALLY see how greedy they are.
I got on Google using this.. https://encrypted.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Big+Bang+Theory+money

Which led me to this.. http://www.cinemablend.com/television/See-How-Much-It-Costs-Advertise-Big-Bang-Theory-Other-Shows-59872.html

So i went back on Google with this.. https://encrypted.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=how+many+commercials+per+30+minutes

The average is about 15 minutes of commercials so that would be a potential 30 slots of 30 seconds each.
So from the link earlier we seen..

The Big Band Theory (and its plum 19+ million total viewer average) now requires $326,260 per 30-second slot.

So..

I got the calculator out and added up 30 time slots per show at that ad cost amount earlier times 24 episodes per season.. and drum roll please ;)

The studio / network etc could be pulling in just from advertising revenue alone a possible amount of ?

$234,907,200.00 per season.

Yup.. 235 Million dollars a year !

So ?
Well think about the show can be paid off probably with 34 million dollars.
Leaving the Network etc to rake in 200+ million a year in profits.

So.. ask yourselves is it too much for the cast to ask for a bigger slice of the pie ?

On the one hand i say no they have every right to ask for more if that was a rough estimate i made of earnings.
BUT !
On the other hand i have to think they should be grateful for the job they got and for the good of the show compromise some how so the show can continue.

So i am split on the matter i think.

The network has easily pulled in 1+ billion dollars i bet profit so i don't blame the cast for bitching over & over getting new contracts.. years ago they were getting 60k per show i heard.

With out any doubt we know one thing.. the NETWORK + STUDIO are the GREEDY ones !

If they gave the cast a more fair cut of the profits i bet the show would continue on So if it does not ?
BLAME CBS & Friends !

- so there you have it.. my opinion (the correct one)

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

Why can't they both be greedy. We alreay know that studios are like that but the actors can be like that too.

The top 3 earn 1 million per episode, Raj and Howard (real names allude me right now) earn 750,000 per episode. I read that is takes about a week to shoot an episode. I dont know about you but I dont make that kind of money or know anyone that makes that kind of money.

The top 5 actors earn a total of 108 million per season and thats just them. I assume that the others like to make some money too. And then there are all the people behind the camera, writers, producers, marketing, wardrobe etc etc that have to be payed of. Maybe they even rent the studios, I dont know. So I'm just guessing there is a lot more money envolved with making the show than just 34 millions.

But even taking all that in account the studio is making a boat load of money with this show and they will try their best to keep it going. But we still have heard nothing so far only Jim Parsons hinted that he might find it time to move on but nothing definitive so far.

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

Wow, what a long post! Yes, $750,000 a week is more than I'll see in a lifetime, but I'm doing OK. We don't know what kind of charitable contributions the cast make, if any, but there's probably something, if only for tax purposes. Kaley surely gives more than just her presence in commercials to animal rescue organizations. And they all pay income tax. And nobody is charging us to watch this specific series, unless you count the cable or streaming service we use. I have plenty of other things to be worried or indignant about, but, hey, vent about what bothers you. I support your right.

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

I am also split on the matter of the money. They're both greedy in a sense. The cast and the network as well, considering how much they have already made.

The problem I have with the cast asking for more money is that the show is not as funny as it used to be, and I don't solely blame that on the writing or the staleness of the characters although that's a huge part of it. Some of it is due to the show being down to 17-18 minutes to fit in more commercials. The network is not going to cut their profits. So where does more money come from? I've heard product placement but I don't know if they can cover it with that. I do not think the big three need more money. I think Melissa and Mayim probably deserve more. They are at the bottom of the pay scale in this group. Johnny, Jim and Kaley? I can't see it. But more than anything, I think they should let the show go out when it's pretty much on top, rather than running it until it's completely out of gas.

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

Anyone ever tell you you have serious issues with jealousy?

BTW, the cast of Seinfeld was making $750K-$1M before Friends did, and most of the Cheers cast was into six figures (Ted Danson closer to $750K) by the time that show ended, and that was almost 25 years ago.

The cast could ask for a bigger piece of the pie and will likely take any new money in the next contract off of the syndication dollars, which will rake in far more than the revenue being generated right now.

And don't blame the networks or the show; blame the fans who still watch. Nick at Nite paid $750K per ep to run Friends for three years. Ten years AFTER the show ended, and now the show has switched over to MTV. BBT will likely have some similar event happen to them as well.

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

Yeah i forgot about the syndication money.

And even if it is not as funny last few seasons it makes no difference.
The network still charges 350k for a 30 second commercial spot.

The ratings are still massive.

If made a painting and the art gallery was getting 1 billion dollars and i was getting 1 million i think i would want more too.
Then again as a poor guy all of a sudden getting a million bucks i would be sort of grateful.

and YES i do realize the Network etc have MASSIVE expenses to cover making a show too.

Re: [FACTS] The Cast is Greedy !

All the power to them if they can maximize their earning potential.
