Best and Worst : Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Whatever made you wanna turn the tv off or made you sick b'cause the studio or someone else wanted someone completly wrong for the role for whatever reason. (Also make a suggestion for a better cast)

Here's mine:
Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman (Gina Carano)
Tom Cruise - Jack Reacher (Brad Pitt)
Chris Hemswort and Chris Evans - Thor and Cap (Vladimir Kulich and Blake Shelton)
Michael B. Jordan - Creed (Columbus Short or Shemar Moore)
any movie where Leonardo Di Caprio is an action hero including The Revenant
Josh Hutcherson - Hunger games - (Michael Cera)
Jason Statham - Furious 7 - (Scott Adkins)
Mel Gibson - Machete Kills and Expendables 3 - (Vin Diesel)
Michael Gambon and Daniel Radcliffe - Dumbledore and Harry - (David Strathairn and ?)

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Cameron Diaz - Gangs of New York

Screws fall out all of the time. The world's an imperfect place.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

give me an alternate

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I haven't put that much thought into it and it's been nearly 15 years since I've seen the movie.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

ok fair enough

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I agree 100% with that! She is an attractive woman, but does not look like an Irish lass. I would have cast someone who was more Irish looking / better actress. Not sure who though off the top of my head.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Cameron Diaz - Gangs of New York

I know this is a half a year reply, but yes I fully agree, Diaz does not fit in that role. I'll go so far as to say she brought the movie down a few notches. Pity since we know Cameron Diaz has some good movies in her portfolio e.g. There's Something About Mary- she was perfect in that.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Gal Gadot was great, she stole the film.

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was a miscast

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I agree that Eisenberg is a miscast but not as big as Gal Gadot.

It's like casting Audrey Hepburn for Red Sonja or Lady Sif.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Jesse Eisenberg as anything is miscast imo.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Thought he was perfect in The Social Network as Mark Zuckerberg

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

To be honest I started avoiding him prior to that movie.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I think he is one of those guys you either like, or you just want to punch in the face. I'm in the middle

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Yeah. I think I have always been firmly in the head punching group as far as he is concerned.

Assumed his rise was a result of being someone's son.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Affleck was the best batman ever, only in a crap film

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Affleck is a good Batman

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Brad Pitt as Reacher? Another miscast role. Reacher is touted as being 6'5" and pushing 250lbs. Cruise is a midget and Pitt is no better. Dolph Lundgren is a much better fit. Has the brains too.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Pitt is at least 5 inches taller then Cruise and has a body mass.
Lundgren is ok, but doesn't have that influence needed.
Just my op

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Understandable about the height. That is definitely needed to better fit the role. Pitt just dors not have the physical appearance of having the body mass that is Jack Reacher. I don't think the character needed to be played by a big name. Need a guy that could pull off the size and mass. All it takes is a bit of gym time. Pitt gets leaned and toned but does not become physically imposing to me. The names skip me right now but the guy who played Opie from Sons of Anarchy could do it. So could the brother from Lawless...

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Ryan Hurst from SoA, hmmm, I don't know, maybe.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

this. I could not see Brad Pitt playing the role as well as Tom does. Even if he is miscast. I don't see the big hype of Brad Pitt. Overrated.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

James Franco as Hugh Hefner in Lovelace.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

yeah agreed, it's just not him

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Here's mine:

Wow. All of your suggestions suck.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

that's your op writinman2004
why'd you bother to write anything on this post
it just buffles me

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Channing Tatum - Hateful Eight (any actor who has a face with character)

Jesse Eisenberg - Batman vs Superman

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Agreed for Tatum
He just doesn't belong in a western, altough I think Hateful 8 is a miserable movie so it didn't matter anyway

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Probably more than 15 years but Clint Eastwood in Absolute Power. Read the book and not a match - Pierce Brosnon is my pick.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

any movie where Leonardo Di Caprio is an action hero including The Revenant

The Di and the Caprio are together, dweeb, and BTW - Leonardo DiCaprio has never played an action hero (and probably never will). And if you think his role in The Revenant was an action hero you clearly have not seen it.... so stop talking about things you know nothing about, and we'll all be better off for it. Let's shake.

Just a guy in Texas who loves movies.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Well, I don't know what you consider to be an action hero role, you tool, but for me and all of the rest of the world, the roles like in Blood Diamond, Body of Lies, Gangs of New York, The Revenant and The Departed were among other - action roles - and he was absolutely horrible in all of them except in The Departed.

Now, you can disagree with that, and from my standpoint you would be dead wrong, as you are, but I'm not going to call you a dweeb for stating your op, altough I think it's plain stoopid.

Oh, and let's not shake.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Hayden Christensen - Never thought Anakin Skywalker was a whiny pubescent dork. I would have casted instead: Evan Peters

Jaden Smith - Karate Kid. They should have casted any actor with at least a trace of talent

Jessica Alba - Fantastic Four. Ruined the movie. Better: Jennifer Lawrence

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Jessica Alba - Fantastic Four. Ruined the movie. Better: Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence was 14 at the time...

Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker (Johnny Depp)

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Toby Maguire in The Good German (2006)
- I feel like this film is greatly underrated but even I have to admit that Maguire ruined the rest of the potential that the film had for me. He didn't work for me as a tough a-hole. Off the top of my head, one of the "Ocean's" regulars like Scott Caan or Casey Affleck would have been much better.

Julia Roberts in Ocean's Eleven (2001)
- I don't mean to pick on Soderberg, I am a big fan of his. But Roberts is horribly miscast - the characters speak of her throughout the film like she's some kind of embodiment of beauty and then she trots throughout the casino like a giraffe. Someone like Monica Bellucci would have made so much more sense.

" You're heading for a breakdown, why don't you pull yourself to pieces? "

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Jessie Eisenberg in Batman v Superman.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I agree with you on Julia Roberts
and also good call on Monica Bellucci

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Anthony Mackie in the movie "Notorious". He was playing Tupac Shakur, but he just came off like a bad impersonator.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Tom cruise jack reacher ....chris hemsworth
Tom hanks robert langdon....mark harmon

[blue]Jesus saves, Moses invests, Mohammed burns through his capital

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I love Tom Hanks in almost every role he's played but he just doesn't fit my vision of Langdon. I always though Jason Patric would have been perfect.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I have to go with Anna Kendrick in Mr. Right for the most recent movie. Emma Stone would have been a better fit.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

I think you are right-on with that. Mr. Right was a decent movie, Anna Kendrick ruined it for me. Emma Stone would have been a better fit. I also think she is more likeable thank Anna.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Seven years ago I broke my right leg and they put the cast on my left arm. Hard to get worse than that!

What kind of a man is Captain Renault?
Oh, he's just like any other man, only more so.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Simon Pegg - Scotty Star Trek.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Yes. Yes. Such a bad move - he's a good writer, but... he ain't no Doohan 😁

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Sharon Stone in the "Gloria" remake. Fantastic film made utterly idiotic by Stone's pathetic New Yawk attempt at an accent. God that was so awful I can smell it from here. What a stupid idea, casting that witch as that vibrant character.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Christian Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy
Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man
Daniel Craig as James Bond
Everyone in Fant4stic
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Idris Elba as Shere Khan. About as menacing as a blancmange!!!

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Idris Elba as the Gunslinger (Timothy Olyphant because Clint is too old)
Michael Madsen as Vladimir in Blood Rayne. I love him as an actor, but hearing his New York accent when he's playing a part as a Sword and Sorcerer is just hilarious.

The greatest trick the devil ever played, was the one where you pick a card, then he shuffles....

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Although I agree for the most part, your choices are just as bad.

Russo Crowe as Noah
The entire cast of God of Egypt.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Tom Hanks in Road to Perdition. He tried, but he CAN'T play villain. Period.

Re: Most appalling miscasts of the last 15 years

Not sure he was portrayed as the villain.
I thought he was fantastic.
