A Series of Unfortunate Events : Masterpiece. It shows what happens when the author is heavily involved!

Masterpiece. It shows what happens when the author is heavily involved!

Just finished season one. Utter masterpiece of film, as it's obvious the author was heavily involved in the scripting, style, and production. The acting is amazing, NPH SHINES as Count Olaf being not only hilarious but actually menacing, the way he should be (not a goofy *beep* clown; remember the t-rex "impression" of the film /facepalm). Seriously way more in tone, style, and brain-flavor of the books. The first couple episodes are a little weak but by mid-season it far surpasses the film. Even the B and C characters shine, Mr. Tick himself as Mr. Snicket rocks! (K. Todd Freeman as Mr. Poe is *beep* hilarious although his coughing is gross!) I love how the theme song changes and updates you as well.

Cause I ride like Kelly Bundy, Yo I keep that *beep* nasty~ (Spank Rock)

It really is great, not perfect but as a fan of the books since I was a little kid I am so glad we are finally getting an adaptation like this ^.^

Re: Masterpiece. It shows what happens when the author is heavily involv

I've noticed a great deal of the best series based off of books have had some involvement of the original creator in some way:
-Lord Of The Rings had Christopher Lee; a good friend of Tolkien, who expressed many of his thematic and narrative views on the books to Lee should they ever adapt it, before he died
-Harry Potter had JK Rowling directly overseeing the sreenwriter Steven Kloves
-This obviously had Snicket writing every episode himself, even though they claimed his involvement would be limited by his extreme psychological problems

I've noticed a great deal of the best series based off of books have had some involvement of the original creator in some way:
-Mario Puzo wrote the scripts for The Godfather Trilogy
-Pierre Boulle co-wrote both Bridge On The River Kwai and, to a lesser extent, Planet Of The Apes
-Lord Of The Rings had Christopher Lee; a good friend of Tolkien, who expressed many of his thematic and narrative views on the books to Lee should they ever adapt it, before he died
-Harry Potter had JK Rowling directly overseeing the sreenwriter Steven Kloves
