This makes me incredibly sad. I know it's a stupid message board, but there are people here that I look forward to reading daily including you, Darling Diva but I know where I can find you ;-) All the other forms of social media, outside YouTube, really suck. This was definitely fun while it lasted.

Agreed, I just posted a couple of minutes ago about this shut down being the "after effect" of the new U.S. administration?!! Who knows, but I honestly did not see this coming.

Sorry to see it go, Didi2013, but the anger of many of the posters was scary. Even on this board, I noticed stalkers, sexists jerks, and first class trolls and this was a mild board. I've stopped posting on some boards because everything has become politicized, sad by true.

I use the hell out of the Ignore feature. I have THOUSANDS of IMDB message board users on ignore. I'll miss the boards, but they were getting obnoxious and a lot of the discussions didn't have anything to do with movies.

So true, niftybergin. I do have a number of people on ignore and only report those who make really disgusting posts, no one on this board. Still, I have to agree, the boards continue to get more sexist, more disgusting and have nothing to do with movies.

The only way I could connect IMDb with the new administration, are the jackasses around these parts running their mouths with all the hate speech going back and forth. But, if you've ever been on the Game of Thrones' board, or Walking Dead's, you'd know IMDb never cared about the insane actually hurting someone. This comes purely down to numbers. It's not profitable for them to maintain any longer when so many flock to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

I liked it because it didn't resemble the big three. Even though I have a Twitter but hate it and only use it when I have to, which now, I'll probably have to, I'm a creature of habit and like the older style way of things, rather than this new age forms of communication.

It's basically censorship. So trolls come in and ruin it, but who cares? This has been going on ever since the internet began.

Does IMDB really care that much about hurt feelings? Nope. They're just too lazy to police all the abusive posts and they're basically giving up.

Hi moviefool09, I don't think it is censorship. Besides the crazed politics, rampant racism, sexism, homophobia, and vileness, a huge number of posters catfish, hawk illegal downloads and self-published books, stalk people, and generally bring mayhem. The IMDB doesn't have the manpower to constantly monitor the boards. It's a shame. Like so many, I love posting on the boards. I wonder what they will look like in the future.

They are real charmers, darling Stacy. I see them on every page schlepping a download of a movie that hasn't bee released yet, but the stalkers are my absolute favs.

I haven't had a stalker in quite some time. I'm absolutely jealous.

I've been through this before. Back when Oxygen shut down its boards. A lot of us Xena fans moved to Whoosh's ezBoards, which is now Yuku. And then there's Proboards and Runboard.

Several of you here can work together and create a board/forum on one of these sites and post a link here for others to join you. I have my own boards on all three sites. On other boards here, there are threads where people are discussing moving to a Google Group, or a Facebook Group.

You have a little over two weeks to figure out where you want to go, and make sure others know where to find it.


I love message boards, and I'm so going to miss the IMDb boards a great deal.

As some of you have pointed out some people can just be plain nasty for no reason. Then the replies get worse. It is a pity as I'll have nowhere to go to ask questions about tv series and films.
Maybe it could also be down to Amazon getting rid of staff. What I am sure about is a large amount of people will not bother with this site as the message board was a big draw.
