For the first I had no expectations, ended loving it.
For this second one I had pretty high expectations, it lived up to them, I love it!
That makes me think it topped the first one. It's awesome from start to finish.

I saw the first on cable and really enjoyed it. Great fight choreography. I'm hoping the second is on par with the first.
I think a lot of people didn't see the first until it was on cable/Netflix etc so I hope it has a decent opening weekend.

Will it top John Wick 1? No
Will it hunt down John Wick 1 and then shoot it, close up, after a crazy fight, which ends with hands-flicking-as-guns-fire? Yes.
Seriously thoui think it will be hard to top the unexpected insanity that was watching JW1 for the first timehowever i think it will be SO much fun to go back into that universe that it will continue the rush/ride.

As someone who was invited to the premiere last week I will say the action is better than the first one.
The personal story is better in the first and the build up. The first one shows a better emotional core to Wick but I'm glad they went a different route in 2 so it wont be a retread. I would say they're both great equally in different ways. I'll say that my personal favorite scene is still the bath house/ red circle scene due to the music conplementing the rhythm of Keanu's movements. The quieter track Kaleida being in harmony with John wick's stealthy attempt really stuck with me. However in chapter 2 the action is bigger in scope and the grandeur set pieces is fantastic!

I really liked the first one, but this looks superior in every single way.
Better acting, bigger & better action, higher bodycount.

Based on the reviews it's getting, I dare say it might be considered a superior film. For the fans, opinions will vary; personally, I'm just going to go in and expect a well-made, badass action movie. I'll later decided which one I prefer.
