Best and Worst : Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Notice rating-wise that's almost in decending order except for KOTCS which is far lower.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Temple of Doom
Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Last Crusade

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Pleased to see how favorably Temple of Doom is being rated. To me, it was the most adventurous, off-beat, and exiting. Not to mention its superior action sequences.

"Alas! poor Yorick. I knew him" Hamlet in Hamlet

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Me too, not to mention the last third is pure insanity.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Last Crusade
Temple of Doom
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. The Last Crusade
2. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
3. Temple Of Doom
Haven't seen Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull .

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

You may as well see KOTCS to complete the set. I don't think it's that bad and it definitely improves considerably with rewatches, IMO.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

The order in which they were made. Crystal Skull a distant 4th, shouldn't have been made imo!

"Sister, when I've raised hell you'll know it"

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

i would say the first three are roughly the same for me with the 4th being the weakest.

Why is it you don't rate Raiders that highly?

Why is it you don't rate Raiders that highly?
Too often do I ask the opposite: "Why is it you rate Raiders so high?" For me, once it hits about the 50 minute mark, I just get bored. Each time I give it a shot, it fails to wrap me up in the story. I just don't understand what other people see in it. Now Last Crusade, to me that is a rollercoaster ride of a flick, and if it has any flaws, then the flaws are too minute to pry.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Fair enough.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Very tough thing to do. Let's see...

Temple of Doom
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Last Crusade (all basically superb)

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (decidedly anything but superb)

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Awesome rank

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. The Last Crusade
3. Temple of Doom
4. Shia Lebeouf

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

That made me laugh when you said Shia Shia himself is pretty much comedy ever since his stunt with the bag over his head a few months back.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Raiders Of The Lost Ark
The Last Crusade
Temple Of Doom
Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Anyone who isn't an Indiana Jones fan is not a friend of mine.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Anyone got plans to watch Temple Of Doom and Last Crusade for their anniversaries this weekend? I definitely will.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I don't understand the hate for Temple of Doom by most because I like it almost as much as Raiders.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

I understand it. Because it is a weird ass movie.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

I think the weirdness is part of it's appeal.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

I think it's refreshing and unique to see it ranked higher than on most lists for a change.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Same for me, I love them both the same.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Last Crusade
Temple Of Doom

I deny the existence of a fourth movie.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. Raiders of the lost ark (hands down the best)
2. Last crusades (good fun movie)
3. Temple of doom (the best part in the movie were the bugs)
Crystal skull- I haven't seen it

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

The fourth one isn't bad, just go into it with lowered expectations.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. Raiders
2. Crusade
3. Doom
4. Skull

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

bump

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

bmp

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

That's pretty unique to see KOTCS rated that highly.

I notice the person I replied to with this post seems to have vanished along with their postings

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Agreed, Temple of Doom.

Seems like a genre film or like an episode in a sword and scorcery, serial novel from the 50's, how every Indiana Jones movie should be and obviously a source of inspiration for the franchise.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

I like only Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. Indiana Jones Disneyland Ride - 20/10 (just the best 4 minutes you'll ever have, anywhere)
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10
3. Temple of Doom - 8/10
4. Last Crusade - 7/10
5. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - 6/10

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

The Indy ride is awesome, haven't been on it in years.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Raiders Of The Lost Ark
The Last Crusade
Temple Of Doom
Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

^ - Probably the most common rank for the series.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1. The Last Crusade
2. Temple of Doom
3. Raiders of The Lost Ark
4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

These movies I saw when my friends took me to see them and said I had to see them. Otherwise, to me after watching them, the films are very poor and I wouldn't have bothered to go see them.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

So you don't like any of them?

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

Harrison Ford I don't care for as an actor. Sean Connery provides a little interest in one of the films. But the scripts are so hokey and the films are so badly done. Plus the one that opens with that badly done 1930's dance number. That is atrocious. The music and dancers are terrible. A very very poor attempt to recreate that time.

What might interest me a little would be a script where Indiana Jones goes after a time traveling Jack The Ripper. Ripper first went back to 1888 to kill. 8 turned on its side is the infinity symbol. Ripper must go to 3 different time periods and kill women to achieve infinity. Indiana Jones finds out that Ripper first killed in 1888 then a Ripper like murderer again appeared in 1908 in London and killed women again and was never caught. Evidence pointed to the fact that the person killing in 1908 was the same man as in 1888 but inexplicably the murderer seemed to be the same age. He was no older by witnesses accounts. Jones knows there has to be something special about the killer. He is a time traveler. Then he finds out some evidence or figures out the 1888 and the infinity symbols and to become infinite or immortal Ripper must kill again in 1928. It is 1928 and Indiana Jones is sure Ripper will appear again to kill to achieve infinity- a pact he has made with the devil. So he heads to London to stop him. He tries telling Scotland Yard he theory but they laugh at him. He also to stop Ripper by himself and FAST.
Not a bad idea for an Indiana Jones script. I think I will work on it. But no Harrison Ford in my film. I can't stand him. I want somebody really GOOD to play Indiana Jones.
IF i could cast whomever I wanted in the film.
Eddie Cantor as Indiana Jones.
Lon Chaney Sr. as Ripper
A late 1920's singer appearing in London at the time with Paul Whiteman's Orchestra who is actually a U.S. Gov't secret agent sent there to meet up with Indiana Jones and help him- Bing Crosby.
An old police detective who worked on the 1888 and 1908 cases who gives information to Indiana Jones-Basil Rathbone
The heroine of the film and the star-ME- who pulls out a gun and shoots The Ripper and stops his reign of terror.
Indiana Jones addressing me, "You realize you are a hero. You just killed Jack The Ripper and saved the lives of many women!"
Me-" Oh, is that what I Just did. I shot that idiot Ripper because I heard him say , "that guy Crosby's singing sucks!" I wasn't going to let him get away with that. Bing Crosby is my favorite singer.
End of film.

"50, count 'em 50, ambassadors will definitely appear at the peace conference."

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

The one with the dance number at the beginning is Temple Of Doom.

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

1 - Raiders of the Lost Ark (My favourite film of all time)
2 - The Last Crusade
3 - The Kingdom of Crystal Skull
4 - The Temple of Doom

Re: Rank The Indiana Jones Films

If anyone didn't hear yet, Steven Soderbergh's latest exercise is a black-and-white version of Raiders with all the dialogue cut and score replaced with Trent Reznor's music from Social Network and Dragon Tattoo. It works amazingly well.
