Re: Saddest movie ever?

The Japanese movie Nobody Knows hurt me in my heart. I grieved for 3 weeks after seeing it.

"In a small Tokyo apartment, twelve-year-old Akira must care for his younger siblings after their mother leaves them and shows no sign of returning."

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Nobody Knows did the same thing to me....Haverchuck is king

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Damage - Jeremy Irons http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104237/reference

Re: Saddest movie ever?

I don't really find they typical sad movies that sad or good as people tend to say, Titanic for instance never elicited any emotional response from me as well as E.T etc. However one of the few movies which makes me cry every time is Imitation of Life (1959).

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Philadelphia

The scene where Tom Hanks is in court get's me everytime.

Re: Saddest movie ever?

you read my mind.

also the final courtroom scene in "a time to kill", just because of the sheer horror, its heart breaking.

Philadelphia wins

and I know its not a movie,

but " uncle phil , why don't he want me" from fresh prince of bellair,

that episode always makes me get that knot in my throat.

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Forrest Gump when he said especially in that voice

"Dont Worry Jenny Ill Raise our AIDS Baby!"

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Really great responses on here! I will look for the movie you mentioned, I've never seen it.

I will list 4 off the top of my head

Uncle Tom's Cabin (1987)
The Elephant Man (1980)
Precious (2009)
Terms of Endearment (1983)

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Haven't seen that one.

Sad movies that I've seen that are worth mentioning (off the top of my head) are:

Pixote
Salaam Bombay!
Wit
Autumn Sonata
Brokeback Mountain
Korczak
The Dreamlife of Angels

Re: Saddest movie ever?

A couple of films I think I've cried to the most were...

The Bridges of Madison County (1995)

Something for Joey (1977)

Re: Saddest movie ever?

Anomalisa is depressing on a very profound level. It put me in a really bad mood after watching it. Wendy and Lucy is sad in a good way.

Little Boy is saddest movie ever Re: Saddest movie ever?
