Date Night : Positively awful

Positively awful

What a crapfest. Carell should stick to The Office, if this is what he's going to be putting out after he leaves.

Re: Positively awful

disagreed, it was hilarious.

Re: Positively awful

Agree to disagree, then - an absolute waste of an evening.

Re: Positively awful

I didn't think it was awful, but it was far from "hilarious."

I give it a "meh"

Re: Positively awful

Some parts were hilarious. The strip dance sequence had me jaw dropped and laughing out loud at the same time!

Re: Positively awful

I had a small smile once or twice, but overall it was really pretty bad.

Re: Positively awful

A waste of a great cast. Sloppy and silly-not that funny.

Re: Positively awful

Agreed. A missed opportunity.

Re: Positively awful

After a significant quantity of alcohol it goes from 'meh' to 'funny'.
Then again Whippit and Taste were really funny, alcohol or not.

Re: Positively awful

"What a crapfest. "

Surely not that bad. It had some pretty funny parts and Tina Fey and Steve Carrell acted well together. I think it is on a par with his acting in The Office. What do you think is a good comedy?

Re: Positively awful

I am sorry, but I am one of the biggest sourpusses when it comes to comedy films, but this one made me laugh.

Re: Positively awful

Just got from RedBox last night. Very disappointed. I was expecting it to be funnier with the two leads from two very funny shows on tv. But it was very unfunny. I don't think I chuckled more than a coupe times. Tina Fey was funny though but she couldn't save this.

Carell is gonna have to start stretching out more if he's gonna leave The Office cuz so far he's still playing the same kind of nice guy character from his last couple movies. Maybe he needs to grow a beard and a bad attitude.

Re: Positively awful

I loved it. I loved the on-screen chemistry of Steve and Tina; they were a very believable couple. The fact that they were relatable and realistic is enough to drive the story.

It may not have been the most complex story; it was no Inception, and it was never intended to be seen that way. It is what it is. A comedy. A film that will take you away for an hour and a half and give you the opportunity to relax and have a good laugh. If you'll let yourself enjoy it. If you go in with unreal expectations, you'll be unhappy. If you go ready to critically analyse every word and every delivery, chances are, like most films, you'll be disappointed.

It may not have made you laugh as much as you had hoped, but that doesn't mean the film was a "Crapfest".

Re: Positively awful

I totally agree, but Fey was even worse. I made it through 45 minutes and couldn't take anymore. Not even Ray Liotta's appearance could save it. Horrific!

Re: Positively awful

I tried watching it last night was well and I couldn't even watch the entire film. I thought I was going to be the only on here that didn't like it, but I'm glad to see there are other disappointed fans on here.

Re: Positively awful

It was OK. It's your typical decent movie you forget about. Not everything has to be awful or amazing. There is an in-between you know.

Re: Positively awful

Although Tina Fey is a little dull as an actor, I thought it was a cute and touching movie even though I couldn't stop feeling like I had seen it before in the late 80s or early 90s. Then I realized it's exactly like the movie Mystery Date with Ethan Hawke from 1991. Anyway back to Date Night, I viewed it as part comedy, part adventure movie. I thought it had some funny parts and the story was intense even though executed kinda poorly. There WAS something wrong with it, something was just off. Some elements were a little weak. Maybe it has to do with the directing. The movie's not horrible. I laughed a pretty good amount and if that happens then it succeeded. Steve Carell and Tiny Fey (mostly Steve Carell) are just funny. The part that had me laughing so hard that i had tears coming out of my eyes was when Steve Carell drove the Audi into the river and said "blow meeeee" as it happened. Just the situation and the way he said that.

Re: Positively awful

I agree with OP. This was a total crapfest. I didn't laugh once during this unfunny sack of garbage. Carell was poor, his retarded man act is wearing thin. tina fey was absolute sh!t as usual, she is an unfunny ugly old talentless hack.
