The League : Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

when I heard about that I thought it was a possible storyline for the upcoming season I know young people say stupid things but it's pretty far over the line! if the show wasn't already ending i wonder if FX would cancel his contract? Maybe I am being too harsh on him. Mistakes happen. But this one is pretty big! Nice to see his "League" castmates defend him online though. At least they're riding into the *beep* storm together

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

We all say dumb stuff in our lives and I think he'll learn a pretty big lesson.

Anyway, can't wait for the next ep!

Which is tonight! enjoy it my friend

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

This reminds me of Alicia Esteve Head, a woman who claimed to be a survivor of the September 11 attacks. She joined the World Trade Center Survivors' Network support group, later becoming its president. Her name was regularly mentioned in media reports of the attacks. In 2007 it was revealed her story was a hoax. Head was not in New York on September 11, 2001. She was actually attending classes in Spain.

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

I forgive him. We tell sometimes lies that spin out of control.

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

I don't know. It's not like he just brought it up once and lied once. He's talked about it multiple times and on radio, saying it's what pushed me to go to Hollywood. You got to really commit to the lie after a while, no small lie after a certain point

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

It probably became the truth to him since he lied about it so many times lol. He convinced himself that it wasn't a lie.

I wonder if in an upcoming episode Kevin will have to "go on a trip" like Ruxin did last season. I doubt it but you never know

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

Yes. The 9/11 story is the only reason I knew who he is - he was telling it all over the place when he got hired on Punk'd and it stuck with me. I've read him talking about his PTSD dreams and sincerely discussing how much it affected his life on multiple occasions.

Personally, I think he's completely done after the League ends. I doubt anyone will hire him. He's already gotten those commercials pulled and comedy central is running other programs in place of his stand-up special.

Not to mention that he told a bunch of other lies too. Where he went to college. Where he worked. All kinds of strange stuff. He probably needs help for being a compulsive liar, but I doubt he gets hired again in Hollywood regardless.

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

There's a fine line between being a character (I'm sure loads of famous people embellish their stories) in the media to promote your work and just outright lying about stuff.

9/11 is one of those things that are 99% of the time beyond reasonable to joke / lie about.

I could well see him struggling for work after The League finishes. He's got a whole lot of making up to do.

Re: Stephen Rannazzisi 9/11 lie

Yep. This is worse than the soldier with actual PTSD who lied to a fallen soldier's mother about him comforting her son while he was dying.
He will probably be able to find work in Tuvalu's hotel comedian-scene. He deserves everything bad that is coming to him.
