Shark Tank : Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

I thought that fireman's bag lady was so unprofessional. Coming in holding her boyfriend like they were in high school. So childish. And then she starts dancing and singing. That was embarrassing.

Then she argues with the sharks while they are trying to talk.

And then she starts crying after Robert offers to buy her company. Obviously he knew she didn't have what it took to manage a company.

Finally, Lori offered her money with the condition Lori run the company. It was clear to me, she didn't have the right stuff to be an owner and manager of a rising company. And apparently, it was clear to the sharks.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

I just finished watching that segment. Oh my god, where do I start... She was almost as brash and annoying as that nursing clothing subscription woman.

1) The woman is too old to be "cutesy" like that.

2) She actually scoffed at Kevin! Audibly scoffed! I mean, she is a presenter on Shark Tank, which she said took her years to get on, and she allows herself to treat the sharks with obvious disrespect?!

3) And to make matters worse, she started attacking him for not giving her the money, as though she is somehow entitled to it. I was impressed how Kevin kept defusing the situation instead of allowing himself to get angry - that took a lot of restraint on his part. He was professional, she was the farthest thing from it.

4) That was her husband, not her boyfriend. They have the same last name. What raised a red flag for me though was when he asked her, "Can I answer one thing?"

Overall I kinda got the impression that she'd be a nightmare to deal with. If I were Robert, I wouldn't even have offered for her to stay on in any capacity.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Well said exatera.

I disagree with you about Kevin though. Somebody should have put her in her place. What an idiot she was. Kevin is so mean to those presenters who are afraid of him. But, when he is presented with a looney toon with a little attitude, he doesn't know what to do. Just goes to show you what a cowardly bully he is.

Maybe Lori should have demanded 51 percent of the company. So, if she gets too difficult, Lori would have all the power.

Lori's plan is to probably tell her, "Go home and keep creating these great products. Send them to us and we will take care of everything else. We will pay you for your service and we will grow the company. We will both get rich. But you have to stay away you cuckoo puff."

What was she making anyway? Were those bags, utility containers, clothes? What were those things?

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Good luck to whoever on Lori's team has to deal with her (assuming that the deal actually goes ahead). As someone else said, where to start here ...

Kevin and Robert understood her business better than she did. It's the authenticity and uniqueness of having a bag made from an actual firefighter's clothes. Who wants a cheap knock-off bag that looks like it came from a firefighter? That's right, no one.

Then she says that she doesn't want to disappoint people by selling the company ... wait, what? So the company is all about HER? No, it would still continue after she sold it to Robert ...

Then she says that she would never sell to someone (Robert) who didn't understand her company ... what the actual f? He liked it so much (and understood it so well) that he wanted to buy the whole thing!

Not to mention everything else that other posters have said already...

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Kevin being a bully is all an act, I think the producers wanted that for "good television". He hasn't acted that way on the show in a long time now, btw, I suspect precisely because a lot of people can't see through it and are afraid to make deals with him because of it.

Refusing to stoop to her level on the show was not cowardly, it was dignified and mature.

She was making bags of all kinds - messenger bags, backpacks, purses, duffel bags. I would never buy one that looks like that, but then I am probably not the target audience.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

What she should’ve done:

“I began making handbags/purses/whatever by re-purposing firemen uniforms, and based on the positive feedback I was receiving, I looked into making it a full-time business. But when I crunched the numbers it became clear that it wasn’t cost-effective. That’s when I decided to purchase the material in bulk to make my handbags/purses/whatever. I also offer those same items at a slightly higher cost, but made from actual fireman uniforms. A portion of those profits will go to fireman’s fund/charities/whatever.”

I think that would have been a much better sell.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

I don't think charity was ever even part of her idea, was it? I don't remember her mentioning anything about it, I think it was Robert who brought it up.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Right, if I remember correctly, she never said anything about charity or helping firemen. It wasn't until Robert brought up the idea, and Lori clarified how to do it did she say, "Lori saw MY vision. I am happy to partner with a shark that understands what I want to do."

What !!! If that was your vision, why didn't you articulate that in your pitch? What a mess that woman was.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Kevin being a bully is not an act at all. He has always been like that.

This show is not fake, there's no scripts, there's no actors. Everyone who's there is genuine.

This is not a fiction show.

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

You must be very naive if you think everyone on TV is completely genuine. *I* wouldn't have been completely genuine in terms of sarcasm and cynicism that I would allow myself in real life, but would think better of on national television. And that's considering that I am a regular person who has nothing to hide.

If they are actual "sharks" of business, they have many skeletons in their closets, and they are not the well-meaning, positive people they appear to be (for the most part) on the show.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

You must be very naive if you think only because people are on TV they are different people. That's a very old cliche many people do believe for whatever reason.

I personally know producers from the Shark Tank of my own country and trust me: nothing is fake or acted.

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Sorry, this just sounds like a bunch of nonsense.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Yes, what you said is just a bunch of nonsense.

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Right, right...

I've seen these posts from you before in response to other people. You just come across as really immature and lacking in common sense.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

You are the one who's totally immature and who has ZERO common sense.

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Ahahahahahahaha!

Thanks, I actually needed a laugh, it's been a chaotic morning.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Hahahahahahahahaha!

Thank You so very much for making me laughing out loud.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Why do you think Kevin being a bully is all an act?

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

He was completely different in the interviews and programs I've seen with him outside of Shark Tank. And besides, do you really think anyone would use a phrase like "you are dead to me" in all seriousness?

I've also seen that stated by many people here on this board.

Well, also, like I said, he hasn't actually been mean on Shark Tank in a while now. And in the past it was more of a brutal honesty sort of thing than straight-up bullying. I also happen to think that some business ideas should be taken behind the shed and shot.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

He's not really mean. He's like as in his real life at work: if people comply or work with him well then everything is fine.

If you think he's very different everytime he notices incompetence or lack of results then you really don't know him very well.

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Clearly you haven't seen much of Shark Tank or you're just a Kevin hater.

Kevin O'Leary doesn't know how to do with people with attitude...?! Him a coward?!

Kevin is always arguing with moody people or people with a more rebel attitude.

What show have you been watching?!

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Well, he sure faded in the presence of this fireman's bag lady.

I watch Shark Tank all the time. Kevin is often a a real jerk. That is why the other sharks give him a hard time.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Maybe he was just trying to be nicer to her. He has had so many arguments with people with attitude.

Hell... do you even remember the las pitch from Season 7? It was that pitch about Pavlok. That was epic!

It was this one:

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

You do realize these people go through screenings where they jump and dance before being on the show, right? She was annoying as all hell though. Useless overpricd item...no thanks. I'd rather tell a firefighter that they are awesome than pay 300 bucks for a piece of his dead buddies coat sewn into a purse.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

Hated everything about her. From her awful attitude to her entitled attitude to the way she dressed and danced around. She is that typical wife of a cop or fireman who only dates cops or fireman because she likes to act like she is the one being brave. She also thinks it gives her power to do and say as she wants similar to how many cops and fireman act. Her product was definitely not that great and way overpriced. We love to act like we support all these things military and hero american but the fact is most people buy what they like and based on price. Many will not overspend just for the story or for being a good person. We would love to but reality is our money needs to be spread out on things we need and things we want. Most people can not overspend just because it has a great story.

Re: Fireman's bags lady didn't have the right stuff.

She looked like a buffoon up there dancing, crying, and giving Mr. Wonderful lip.
