The Wicker Man : Most underrated scene?
Re: Most underrated scene?
The school scene is indeed great. Perhaps it's under-rated because there are lots of little surreal moments rather than one coup de grace of strangeness.. I also loved the weird seancce type scene.
Re: Most underrated scene?
'you little liars'-in the classroom was funny
'STEP AWAY FROM THE BIKE'
and the obvious bear suit punch
i loved the fact that see started acting pretty much insane and crazy-thats what an island full of women will do to a man

Re: Most underrated scene?
When he's in the bar he says "I think I'll have a drink first.as long as I'm not INTRUDING!!". His wavy hands when he emphasizes the word "intruding" are comedy gold.
And then immediately after when he takes a drink of Mead, watch his face when he does the little 'Mmmm, dat's gooood Mead' reaction. Brilliant.
"Two for flinching!"

Re: Most underrated scene?
I loved every scene the barlady was in.
Re: Most underrated scene?
I like how he stresses man in "policeman" when he introduces himself to Sister Rose and her students: "I'm a policeMANsee my badge?" And then the girls just give him a stonewall "not impressed" look.
Also liked the twin old ladies who kept popping up from time to time. (Mike Nelson in the RiffTrax: "hello, twins!)

Re: Most underrated scene?
Yeah the twins rocked I love the moment during Sister Braveheart's final silly speech where, just as you think the film can't get any funnier , the twins step forward and say "It is YOUR DESTINY" in a manner suggesting they've both just been possessed by aliens. Ah, why not That would make as much sense as anything else in this film.
Re: Most underrated scene?
I was thinking the old-lady twins were the Overlook twins, all growed-up!
Re: Most underrated scene?
The best scene is the dream within a dream on the dock scene. The look he gives waking up from the actual dream is too funny.

Re: Most underrated scene?
I like when he calls Rowan "honey" several times I don't know if it was foreshadowing, symbolic, or completely unintentional!

Re: Most underrated scene?
Any scene where he punches a woman out in his bear costume. Also, the "TAKE OFF THOSE MASKS!" scene and the house by house search of the entire island before 3 pm.

"What's in the bag, a shark?"
Re: Most underrated scene?
the scene were he dives sideways into the water to save the girl who is already dead. plus that jacket was priceless, lol.
Re: Most underrated scene?
The scene where he kills that bee by crushing it with his cup in the bar. When asked why he did it, he tells the lady "I'm allergic". In that moment you could argue that Cage brought his downfall on himself - you don't troll your host by killing what they hold dear.

Re: Most underrated scene?
One of my favorites is the scene where it is just a shots of Nic Cage running from door to door. I just find it funny how it is just a scene of him running. I also like in the classroom when the teacher says "how dare you stand there and frighten my children", so dramatic. And I also agree with everyone else on here.

Re: Most underrated scene?
I thought kicking LeeLee Sobieski was an interesting choice, both for Cage and the character. Channeling his inner ninja, I suppose.
Re: Most underrated scene?
I like that Cage uses "quixotic" to describe the cult's sacrifice idea, since earlier there were several lines of dialogue devoted to explaining what "quixotic" meant. Foreshadowing.
