Employee of the Month : Glen Gary and Glen Ross

Just found out that there's a movie called "Glengarry Glen Ross" http://www.imdb.com/board/10104348/. Since that movie was made in 1992, and "Employee of the Month" was made in 2006, then there's no way that that movie was named from two characters from a different movie. So then obviously, the characters had to have been named after the movie.

Did anyone know/realize this?

Yeah let's compare a classic with Alec Baldwin and Al Pacino at their best, to a *beep* Dane cook comedy. Dumbass.

It's not quite as bad, but I do agree, the "reverse connection" made me laugh It's akin to someone watching a Godfather rip-off/tribute scene (like Robin Hood: Men in Tights), and working their way backwards to "discover" The Godfather!

GGGR is indeed a movie. It was an award-winning play even before that. It features some of the greatest performances by some of the greatest actors you could possibly ask for (Pacino, Spacey, Lemmon, Harris, ABald). It's 'Employee of the Month' that is still under investigation for cinematic authenticity

Once it was clear that the managers' names were Glen Garry and Glen Ross, I was the only one in the theater laughing my a$$ off. Sad. :P

I actually didn't think that this little "homage" to Glengarry Glen Ross was appropriate for the movie- I was just a little perplexed. I mean, the only similarity between the two is that the employees are competing on a board. Even that is not that similar, though, since Glengarry Glen Ross is about desperation. Glen Gary and Glen Ross are nothing like Mitch and Murray (and Glengarry and Glen Ross are actually properties, not people), so that part added in was just strange. Whatever, though, I ended up being entertained throughout Employee of the Month even though it was pretty terrible (once you resign yourself to that fact, it's enjoyable).

Yeah, you're definitely over-thinking it by a long shot It wasn't meant to be a point of connection to the film, plot-wise, or in any other facet. It was simply for the comedic affect of their names together equalling a movie title. And it gets a nice little shout out to a great film.

But definitely zero connection to the other film wasn't meant to be that deep.
