Classic TV: The 90s : If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you choose?

If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you choose?

I would pick 1991. I was 8 years old at the time but for some reason that was a fun year for me. A lot of great shows was on TV then and coming on TV.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

It was a toss up between 93 and 94, but I chose 1994. I still tell people that was the best year ever for movies. It launched careers like Jim Carrey & Adam Sandler, and turned Tom Hanks into a megastar. Two of my top 10 all time favorite shows, New York Undercover & Party of Five, as well as shows like All That, Sister Sister, My So Called Life made their debuted. Biggie Smalls, my now 2nd favorite rapper ever debuted. When I first took up baseball. Memories of sneaking out of boys club to go to the movies. Hanging out with family. Fashion was starting to change. Great great year.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

I'd go back to 1990...the year I was born....and get to experience the 1990s as a grown-up.

But to be honest, I really want to go to 1956 (the year TV came to Australia), and starting at the age of 23, experience the second half of the 20th century in a unique way. That would be great.

But if I could only spend time in a single year of the 1990s, I'd go with either 1992, 1994 or 1997....they seem like interesting years.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Possibly one of the later years, like 1998 or 1999. A lot of my nostalgia comes from elementary school, because of the friends I made, the trips I took, and just the simplicity of the atmosphere when I was in school. At the time, I was too young to appreciate those years, the way I appreciate them now, not to mention, proud of moving up grade after grade, because I wanted to stay ahead of the game like my classmates, and not remain uncoordinated.

Well, i'm long past those days, and now I realize the early years of school are a small piece of a big puzzle I want no part of, and I wish I knew the outcome of my feelings sooner, in hopes that my experiences lived up to all the nostalgia I have from mid-childhood.

P.S. F!ck High School.

I like your post. I also love New York Undercover I watched all episode and still watch the episodes on youtube since they don't re-run on TV. Anyways, You right Biggie did come out around 94 a lot of great artists rap and R&B was starting to come out and this era belonged to the south and New York.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

New York Undercover comes on either centric or tv1, because I had all the episodes recorded on my dvr at one point, just fyi.

But yeah the only reason I was going to say 93 was because my favorite 90's show, boy meets world, and 3rd all time favorite movie, Jurassic Park came out.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

You right I forgot NYU comes on Centric. At one point it stopped coming on for CSI.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

I guess there are two ways you can approach this question.

1. Go back to your favorite year and relive those memories.

Or

2. Go back to a specific year and undo something or make better decisions to improve your life now.

For #1, I'd go back to 3rd or 4th grade (1990-1992). Primarily because it was a carefree time and my choices didn't have a significant impact on my life.

For #2, I'd definitely go back to my freshman year of high school. I would devote more time to my studies and make the most of out of the high school experience if that were the case.

Hands off the pie

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

@Toronto....that's ok I understand.

@Paco....you right the question can go two ways. Like you said on your 2nd statement I would do things different in my 9th grade year by focusing more on school instead of trying to be popular and fit in.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

That depends. If we go back to said year, do we relive our entire lives from that year or do we go back to the present time after that year ends?

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

1994-1995....EASILY because I was at my highest peak in life at 6 and 7 yrs old. I felt so secure and happy in my own skin. Most of my main fave female artists were at their peak of their careers. Great shows and music. The year I graduated from Kindergarten, when we got cable, when I had my best friend, bubble baths, my aunt and uncle got married (even though I never attended), all my barbie dolls and stuffed animals, and summer camps. 1996 and 1997 were good years as well.

2nd grade was my most favorite school year of them all!!!

-sailor moon
-when i was infatuated with japanese culture
-When we had a visitor from Japan in school teaching us about their culture.
_Summer camps
-Pioneer club
-christmas shows at school.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Either '97 or '98. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are from those years when I started kindergarten in '97, made new friends, began to see/understand the world better, found what I liked to do and what I was good at, etc. It would be cool to revisit that part of my life again.

From those years, I remember starting school, seeing my first hockey game up-close, watching the Jonny Lang concert on Disney Channel and thinking he was so cool and talented (he's from my home state), memorizing the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap word-for-word, The Wizard of Oz, and a LOT of Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

I'd love to experience 4th grade (1995-96) again. It was easily the best school year of my life, which is kind of depressing in a way. My best friend was in the same class as me and I made so many new friends that year. Our core group consisted of 7 kids and I was sort of the glue guy. We were a mischievous group and would always pull pranks. I remember one time we brought a snake into school and the teacher nearly fainted. I didn't have cable at the time, so no Nickelodeon or MTV. TV was great on weekday afternoons, Friday nights, and Saturday mornings. But there was nothing for kids on Saturday and Sunday in the afternoon. I used that time to go on outdoor adventures, play sports, and build forts. That was also the last year I believed in Santa. I wish I still had the imagination I did when I was a kid.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Interesting @ Crazy. I love Christmas but I think I stop believing in Santa after the age of 13.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

What is that if you don't mind me asking?

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

I'd pick 1998 or 1999. South Park, Scream and the original PlayStation define the 90's to me. I know that the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and golden age of The Simpsons probably define the decade better, but I am not old enough to have experienced them personally.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

1992. I was seven that year and it was a pretty awesome year for me. I got Totally Hair Barbie for my birthday, TLC came out that year, my family and I visited my mother's side of the family in Brazil for the first time, and I met my best friend to this day that very same year. 1995 is the runner up for me.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Anytime between '97 to'99, fresh out ouf college and working in a world filled with day-traders and dot-com'er. Those were some great years!!! Oh, and my college years were off-the-heezy as well...

I hear you on the family member part. I would give anything to have my grandmother alive again, my great grandmother, my grandfather (mom dad), my aunt (mom sister). Then I see what you mean also by how everyone grow up and drift away that is how I feel about some of my cousins my age I was close to when I was little but after about 21 years of age my cousins left and went on with their own lives.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Around 1994-95 when I used to watch programmes like Gladiators, Blind Date and Baywatch. Or late 90's when we had the soap opera Sunset Beach.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

1998. Easily and without question it was the best year of my life. I was in college and spent the year around the greatest friends I've ever had.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

1994 was an incredible year for movies.

Kid/family movies:
The Lion King
The Little Rascals
Angels in the Outfield
D2: The Mighty Ducks
Richie Rich
Little Giants
Little Big League
Monkey Trouble
Baby's Day Out
Camp Nowhere
Blank Check
The Pagemaster
Andre
Return of Jafar

Christmas movies:
The Santa Clause
Miracle on 34th Street remake

Three Jim Carrey movies: The Mask, Ace Ventura, and Dumb & Dumber!

Some other great movies I was too young to enjoy at the time - Speed, Pulp Fiction, True Lies, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Leon: The Professional, etc.

It was also a strong year for television. Seinfeld and The Simpsons were in their primes. Friends, My So-Called Life, Party of Five, The Critic, Sister Sister, ER, Gargoyles, Spider-Man, and Earth 2 all debuted that year. It was also a huge year for Nickelodeon with the premieres of All That, Alex Mack, Aaahh Real Monsters, and My Brother and Me.

TGIF featured a lineup of Family Matters, Boys Meets World, Step by Step, and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

This is interesting. I would pick 1995. It was my last year in primary school, I believe the best season of the Simpsons was being aired that year in Australia. Seinfeld was in its prime. Same with The X-files. Friends hadn't been released here yet. Basically, it was a year where I had zero reponsibility and TV was awesome.

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

Probably anywhere from 1995-1999 because those are years I can remember the most. But I'll go with '98-99, my sixth grade year. :p

Re: If you could go back to any year in the 90s which year would you cho

to delay the Skynet, I choose 1991.
