The Stepfather : Worst Mother Ever *spoilers*

Was anyone else sort of shocked by how stupid/self absorbed the mother was in this movie. I mean, I know she was getting over a tough divorce, but her behavior just made her look insanely desperate to be with a man. So she knows a guy for 6 months and decides to marry him. Yet she knows absolutely NOTHING about him and she's okay with having him around her children. Then she finds out he "disciplined" her young son (by choking him, in the son's words) and does absolutely nothing about it. Well, she says they don't use "physical force"what a tool. Are you saying that you would let someone strangle your kid and not kick him out the door? Then her sister even tells her how reluctant he is to divulge personal information, doesn't like his photo taken and someone claims he looks like someone from America's Most Wanted.

And throughout all this, the mother keeps whining about how "David makes her happy". Idiot.

She was probably just severely depressed after all that terrible plastic surgery she obviously recently went through.

wasn't there something about he had a job that had him "on the road" alot before the mom asked Jacki to hire him at the realty ?

yes she definitely came across needy and determined to prove that this was the relationship of her dreams which only showed her own self-centered desperation

stupid women like that deserve failed relationships until they take the time to see things more clearly and not be so determined to fulfill their own selfish desires that they willingly turn a deaf-ear towards the obvious

unfortunately con men often seek to prey on such vulnerabilities and they should burn in he11 for it.

Men who exploit the loneliness and need to reconnect in single mothers should have their ba11s ripped out

Just like when Mrs. Cutter warns her that he looked like the sketch from AMW and all she tells David is "It was all I could do to keep from laughing in her face" then proceeds to tell him a story about the neighbors having an affair that Mrs. Cutter found out about and revealed, esp after it turned out she had been right. If only she had listened to Mrs. Cutter

btw..how do you live with somebody and never see their drivers license or photo id?? Jackie should have asked Susan for David's info, then they could have added a scene like she flips through his wallet and finds grady edwards id..then confronts him. of course she is Worst Mother ever!

At the end , when the stepfather was coming with a knife to michael , all she did was stand behind and save her ass, atleast michaels gf was brave enough to bring up the saw cutter. Cant believe the mom just stood there and watched.

I was wondering the same thing! I grab my bf's wallet and hand it to him and see his ID in the process! And this is your fiance?

This pretty much sums up what is most flawed about the movie. First of all there is almost no initial plot development. They meet at a supermarket, go to have pizza and - boom! - cut to next scene 2 minutes into the movie they're engaged, he's moved into the house, and has already taken over the basement by building a wall-full of big padlocked cabinets stocked at least partially with large amounts of booze. There's only one brief scene where David and the mother are remotely intimate and they otherwise have very little chemistry. They spoke to each other like strangers.

Then of course there's the implausability of David being welcomed into the household and the mother being "in love" with him devoid of any concrete information about who he actually is. Sure the mother was bouncing back from a divorce, but come on! Not even the slightest degree of scrutiny? She was so adamant about how much she loved him and how happy he made her, and everytime she repeated those claims it grew more preposterous and unconvincing. Guess she won't make that mistake again ;-)

David or Grady or whatever his name is, is clearly a sociopath you can tell that from the opening sequence where his family is lying dead in the house and he just goes about his daily routine as if nothings wrong. Then six months later he's moving on to a new family and bit by bit undermining them and destroying their lives. The way that he kills Michaels dad and Mrs. Cutter so casually is terrifying b/c he's killing them only b/c they are an inconvenience to what he is trying to do.
As far as Susan goes she seems really checked out. When she finds out that David hurt Sean she yells at him for a couple minutes than moves on when he "apologizes" to Sean. She ignores Jay and Jackie's suspicions and just thinks Michael is lying and acting out. She gets mad at people for caring that something is suspicious about David instead of realizing that there might be a reason for their suspicion.

True. In fact I know a divorced mom who has three daughters, two of whom are below 10y-o. They all lived with her mother until the old lady died and left her the house, a 4x4 and some thousand dollars in a bank account.

Not a month had passed since her mother died until she met a guy who TOTALLY looks like a pimp or a conman (or both), and a couple of months later he moved in with them! She calls him "My Angel" because "he appeared 'just in time' to give her joy just when she was grieving over her mother". Yeah, the easy house/car/money and her worship have nothing to do with it

The eldest daughter (13) told her that she didn't like him Her solution?: Send her to live with her ex-husband's mom I swear I want to slap this idiot whenever I hear about this

I just hope everybody is wrong about this guy and he doesn't turn out being a rapist or something :S

Like tears in the rain said, it happens a lot. Look at these step dad's or mama new boyfriend who end up raping and/or killing her kids. Some women are desperate for love and new daddies for the kids they'll forget all common sense.

I worked with a divorced lady with three daughters. She met some guy, moved him in and married him in a short time. She said the same things Sela ward said. He makes me happy, Yada yada. A few months later she confided in us that she's separated with him because he knocked her around.

Ladies, watch out when grown men move in with you. That could mean they're not in a stable place in life. No mortgage, no lease, willing to give up male independence in favor of a woman with kids. Huge red flag when a grown man wants to move in, especially after a short amount of time

Okay so when that scene came on with the boy getting strangled or whatever i had actually dozed off for a minute and was literally startled awake by that. I'm sorry but if anyone ever laid a hand on any of my children like that their ass would be out the *beep* door. My kids always come first case closed.
