i'm really annoyed that the message boards are being removed because they were the most social and interesting part of this site but at least Imdb is taking action against the *beep* i just wish they could have banned individual accounts so the mature people who actually have passion for film can continue to discuss.
people checking this movie page in the future will have no clue as to why this movie has such a low score, so they'll end up skipping it probably, which is a shame considering it's one of the year's best movies.

Considering how much senseless arguing and name calling goes on in these forums, I'm not surprised. You're not losing your freedom of speech, IMDB is using its 'rights' as a business to discontinue one of it's platforms for the sake of the website's integrity.

Free speech doesn't entail you to say whatever you want on any platform. These boards are privately owned. Amazon is within their rights to control the content on message boards that they provide and pay for, even if that means shutting them down to combat puerile racist trolls that spew venom while hiding behind the cover of "free speech."

You are free to stand on a corner and say what you want, or start your own blog. Clearly you don't understand the 1st Amendment. The government isn't shutting down the IMDB message board. The owner, Jeff Bezos is. It's his right.

There is no idea that needs profanity and hate to express. There are times and places
people can go nuts, but I am sick and tired of fake accounts on social networks dropping
negativity, hate, threats, and insults all over the place. Certain people need to be censured,
that is punished, and taught how to behave in public. Freedom of speech is not about
allowing barbarism and hate to dominate every discussion in the country.

By the way what boards are IMDB shutting down? Because that would be the exact
goal of the Alt-Right, to cut off communication between people, one way or another.

You can still say whatever you want, IMDB is just no longer going to be a vehicle for it.

Because of trolls and their short sighted amusement fix, we all suffer not being able to intelligently banter. This is where we are socially and now therefore politically. No intellectual discussion of topics, just a gross and forceful thrust of power to see if it'll sit.
