329 out of 695 rated this movie a 1/10 (a movie with a metascore of 96, mind you) Preeeeettyyyyy sure these scores weren't given by people who attended early screenings (why would one see an early screening of a movie that looks like a 1/10 to them?)

I agree with sentiment of your statement esskayess and definitely feel we as a society are closer to being colorblind than the movie depicts. My pet peeve and opinion (free speech, remember?) are movies and people who make money off of racism and slavery topics. Ones that are not motivated in any way for all people to learn and grow in character. Everyone, absolutely everyone in the world has violence in our racial history. We have that in common. That is one thing anyone who takes a history class in college finds out. Unfortunately, people in the past did not have the communication or recording abilities that the present world enjoys at this time. So it makes past events of 100 years seem more horrible than anything and that is simply not true. Whole groups of people were wiped out with only vague archaeological evidence left behind. Egypt had many slaves killed but they have no voice now because living belongs to the future and they moved on, they had to in order to survive intellectually and physically. There are so many examples but I cannot name them all here. I am proud of my country, America, that we stood up to slavery and it was a tough battle. This type of violence has happened to every race. Every race. We make mockery of all the people now and in the past who have sacrificed much, even their lives to start us all on the road to freedom (colorblind.) So I fear the repercussions of this movie. It is not good for any of us. We owe it to the people of all colors in the past to be colorblind today. I think it's important to remember that most 'racism' online is basically some idiot trying to be funny and edgy by breaking social norms and saying things they know they shouldn't. Very very few of them are card-carrying Klansmen or whatever, and most of those types tend to congregate on their own cesspool forums like Stormfront. It's still bad and it's still racist, and grossly irresponsible for normalizing noxious attitudes and behaviours: the 'culture' of online trolling is well and truly rooted now, and you have a lot of people (especially the younger generation who have been raised on the internet) trolling and saying terrible things simply so they can fit in.

Yeah, I heard how people are already trolling this film. I think the most vocal ones tend to be crazy and that doesn't mean that they are the majority. I think it's best to just ignore them. Pretty sad that IMDB board will shutdown thanks to trolls like them though :/
