This Is Us : Randall's Shaky Hands?

Randall's Shaky Hands?

What are your thoughts on why his hands were shaking at the end of the episode? My first thought was just the stress/anxiety of everything going on in his life but could it be a medical issue?

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

Beth mentioned something a while ago but Randall have a medical type of thing going on to William. He just said he couldn't see or something, but it could be related.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

I assumed Parkinson's. Who knows

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

That's what I'm thinking, too.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

In the preview, you saw him shaking again in the shower. My first thought was that it was Parkinson's, but now I'm wondering if it is going to come out as MS. Many people with MS experience vision problems such as optic neuritis and tremors are also common. Plus, last night, Kevin told his ex-wife that he was sorry to hear about her mother's MS. They might be wanting to do a storyline where Kevin finds out that Randall as MS and goes to Sophie crying and knowing that she can give him some guidance on what to expect.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

Wow, I immediately thought Parkinson's myself but yours is an excellent theory, and one I actually like better.

Also, your screen name. It's everything.

"Your initials spell BED?!"

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

Good catch, I didn't think of that

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

I was thinking either Parkinson's or MS myself.

Man, that would suck.

But it's interesting how such a perfect person now has something he will have to battle.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

I've also wondered about that as well. As I recall, early in the series his wife mentioned a stressful period in his life where he literally couldn't see (or something to that effect). This combined with the tremors made me think MS. I don't think stress could affect a person quite that much, even though it can definitely mess with you. Symptoms of MS can also come and go.

Why don't you take a pill, bake a cake, go read the encyclopaedia.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

Stress has been known to exacerbate multiple sclerosis symptoms, so that definitely fits.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

My first thought was Parkinson's.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

It's probably MS though it could be Parkinson's. But that's rare at that age. If course it could just be nerves. We all know he's tremendously stressed out with his work and domestic life.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

The synopsis for next week's episode says "Randall struggles under the pressure of his work and his ailing father," so maybe it's just stress.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

Maybe I watch too much "Shameless", but I was thinking some kind of drugs. Which can explain his mood swings. Trouble coping so he turned to drugs.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

That would really disappoint me. It seems so out of character for Randall. But I suppose you never know.

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

I had chalked it up to an anxiety/stress. Randall keeps stuff to himself and usually has no outlet. Beth is good for him and she's saying 'talk to me Randall '. That's usually his outlet, but if she's not there to be a sounding biard, he'll just keep it bottled up and it may manifests in an anxiety attack. Therefore, the shaky hands, etc.

MS ain't a bad theory, even though it hits women more than men. I see Randall taking advantage of his yearly wellness checks at his physician. Just because of Beth and the girls

Re: Randall's Shaky Hands?

I was so stressed watching Randall's predicament between work & family. Very well written because I FELT it. And that snake of a guy at work pisses me off LOL.
