Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

This was the episode where Betty became my favorite character, at least for the next week. I'm loving the Beronica relationship and I'm glad they've gone in that direction rather than the typical love triangle thing.

As a whole, the episode was a little rushed, but there was some good stuff in there, too. Cheryl became a little more human, Jughead stopped being such a loner doofus, and we got a whole new storyline developing with Betty. (I don't think that she's actually Polly, though, because though it would explain why her mother won't let her see Polly, there's no way the kids at school wouldn't talk about it and make fun of her.)

Archie actually seems to be the one who isn't really part of the group, which is a little odd, though next week he should be front an dcenter again.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

Damm Fred really tore into Archie..wow. For a minute this was my dad yelling at me and my brother.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

i was all in until the race agenda began with Josiei like the show and i will still watch it for now, hopefully they will stick with the good writing and not take anymore cheap easy way outs

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

Sheep. You're all sheep

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

It was good overall, except that the Barb actress was laughably mediocre that when she showed up, I was wanting the Demigorgan to finish here in this universe as well, and also Josie and her cringe, sob story comments towards Archie, I would've liked if her friends shut her up.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

Three episodes in and the murder mystery takes a backseat to heavy-handed (to the point of insincerity) storylines about racism and slut shaming.

I'm writing a play. It's a cross between Glee and The Road.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

I did not mind that. It would have been unrealistic if everybody only focused on that one kids murder for the entire show run

Kids in high school care about their reputationwhether it's b/c of gender and/or ethnicity.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

While it could use a different focus, the story was the cliched "boys are dogs, girls are perfect" story and really didn't do anything to advance the story. The playbook idea is straight out of some of the worst writing that the 1980s had to offer. Also, scouts are allowed to teach gun safety, especially in a small town, so this is the obligatory PC episode. Hopefully the show will get better

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

The problem wasn't having subplots. I don't expect the show to be 100% about the murder. I don't mind adding some side stories to help add layers to the mysteries or add some twists. That's good. At least the book was to show Jason had his own secrets and give Polly some motive to be a suspect. The issue was the cringe worthy writing and outdated high school tropes.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

it felt SO in-your-face and pandering to the youth of today. "look at us! we are SO WOKE". everything to guilt trip the generation of today.

i always love a more subtle approach because 100% of the time it's more meaningful.

not to mention that the "revenge" was so anticlimatic and blah. i expected some buildup, but everything is just so easily handed in the show. is it only one season?

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

Especially with Josie's speech, complete with Archie's "This is important and we all need to listen." Besides how poorly written it was, there's still the fact that of all the minority teenagers in the show, none have gotten any development or really done anything in the three episodes. Josie sings, then angrily rants over Archie's minor indiscretions. Her bandmates have probably had maybe three lines between one another. Chuck is the biggest wanker imaginable. Reggie is pretty much the same in what little he's done. Dilton is probably going to shoot up the school. Kevin is more camp than a row of tents.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

"Kevin is more camp than a row of tents" OMG LOL!

Towards the end, burning the book in the barrel

The fire was on wrong end of barrel.

She put lighter fluid on the slut book, then lighted up the lighter and threw it in the barrel as you can see. It hits one side of the barrel and falls onto the trash by the book, but, the opposite side of the contents of the barrel light up first.
So it was a pyrotechnics error i suppose. 180 degrees out of wack.

Also, a hot tub would not heat up that quick. 100F to 110F in a minute or so!

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

The episode was good but I can not stand Josie and from the looks on the Pussycats face I don't think I'm alone. At this point I'd be perfectly fine with Josie getting kicked out of the group only to crawl back to the all new Valerie and the Pussycats.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

I don't understand why they made Josie such a bitch. She's very unwatchable to me. I liked this episode. Yes, Jason's murder is the main focus of the show but, it's nice to steer away from that a little once in while.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

The show keeps getting worse and worse, so it'll undoubtedly get renewed.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

It's at .05, that's a hit for the cw

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

It got a .5 for episode 3? I don't think the ratings come in that quick.

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

that was for 2 i believe and I just looked it up and I was wrong it was a .4

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

yep
still .4

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

Episode 3 is 0.5 just look at TVbythenumbers

Re: Chapter Three: Body Double - Episode Discussion

This show is strange. On one hand it's politically correct, on the other hand it tries to be pulp noir.

I love Jughead's narration, but as dramatic as he makes everything sound, it never pays off. In this episode he said the players getting kicked off the team would be costly in weeks to come. I assume it means it will be as simple as the football team goes on a losing streak and nothing more.
