What's wrong with the show is that it's a disastrous mix of cliches and generic material. It's awful, I don't even understand how they got funded to create this. Did nobody read the "script"? Every plot so far has been so predictable and generic it's physically painful to watch it. The only reason I even watched episode 2 was that someone say it was so much better than the first on this forum yesterday. It was most likely a troll.

Did you watch the original series? It became so predictable / cliched it spawned a whole bunch of parodys and memes making funny of the fact. That's 24 - it does the same thing every season and people come back to watch en masse. Please don't pretend this show has been anything but a cash grab for cheap action / emotions. That's why I love it and the new series is no different.

I agree, 24 was always a fun popcorn action show, but when you step back and actually think about the plot, the show falls to pieces. I watched the first 2 eps and it was not great, you guys are right, it's too predictable.

It's a different character. If they tried to pass the guy off as "Jack Baur", THAT would be a mistake. (Ex. Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, James West, Iris Allen).

I just watched the second ep and yes, the show isn't very good. The writing is actually kind of crappy, and these actors aren't so great. Jimmy Smits is awesome. The brother is good. Everybody else. eh. The lead, he's just not leading man material. Skin color ain't got nothing to do with it. The last few seasons of 24 weren't exactly tearing up the ratings either. The premise is kind of played out.

Better writing, filming and an actor like Idris Elba and I would love this show. It has nothing to do about race but about execution (including acting).

This is part of trend to recycle successful shows with black leads. And they have all failed. We are 87.2%, they are 12.8%. Hollywood learns this the hard way.

The 24 gimmick is just played out. It was so played out after 8 seasons that the show wasn't even meant to end at the end of Season 8 and yet they tapped out halfway through because of ratings and just how shtty the show became. 24: Live Another Day was supposed to conclude it and then that was a let down at the end.
This show has the same format except it doesn't have Jack Bauer to keep people interested. It has generic, uncharismatic black guy as its lead.
