Split : The twist isn't even a twist
Re: The twist isn't even a twist
Well, in a way, it's incredible unique because it I'm not necessarily sure that it can be categorized as a "twist". I loved it and the overall ramifications to what it means, but it doesn't work in the same way most other twists do work. And it can only exist and have meaning because of another movie.
I'm not saying it is a twist or it's not a twist. That's what's so interesting about it. It's hard to categorize and people will undoubtedly disagree if it is or not.
But it is very interesting and very unique.

Because that didn't change the entire context of the story. This did. This plays like a horror movie. The twist tells us that while it has horror elements this is a supervillain movie
Re: The twist isn't even a twist
the ending is not so much a twist rather than a reveal that changes the context of the movie. It just reveals that this is not a horror/thriller movie, but rather a super villain origin story for the horde - the ending explains why he can walk on walls, bend bars, etc. Also, there's going to be a third movie with david dunn facing down against the horde, so i'd say it was a pretty good/surprising ending that sets up the next film.

Third movie? You're kidding me. That sounds awesome.
Re: The twist isn't even a twist
It's been talked about between the actors who agreed to come back for a sequel and Shyamalan is 11 pages into writing a script for it, so hopefully!
The twist isn't even a twist
How is this even a twist? It doesn't change anything that happened earlier. It's just a cameo, like Wolverine's in X-Men: First Class. Nobody called that a twist.
I think some people want M. Night Shyamalan to be back on his game so much that they're blinding themselves.
