Outsiders : Please don't let Asa be dead!

Please don't let Asa be dead!

I'm really, really hoping Asa isn't dead. I mean I seriously thought Big Foster was dead and apparently he isn't. He's in some random folks basement? Anyways, I'm hoping something along the lines has happened to Asa, and he really is alive. I mean, he is my favorite character!

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

It's been confirmed, he's dead.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I feel ya! Asa's my favorite character too. The dude is the center point between the ferrels and the town folk. It'd seriously be a mistake to kill him off.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I doubt he is dead. The wolves are there to take him back up to the mountain. They wounded him, but didn't kill him. My two cents.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I agree; note the title of the episode. Those aren't regular wolves, they are some kind of spirit animals that walk the woods.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I agree. I think they are representative of the mystic element of the Ferrell clan. The 3 wolves appear to G'winn and she kneels down and acknowledges them. The next thing we know she has decided to take up her role as Brenin. Lady Ray had prophisized that Asa was important to the clan and would play a big role in bringing them together and healing them. His leaving would break that prophecy and put the clan at risk. So the wolves attacked him most likely wounding him but not killing him. Measssge- you are not leaving.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Kyle gallner already commented he's dead, this reeks of joe anderson wanting to leave and them writing him off. Im sad to see him go too.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

But why not have him dead DURING the episode and not die in the season opener? What was the point of having Asa in this episode only to kill him off during it? They could have had him die off screen with it being mentioned during the episode and Asa didn't do much of anything but wander around doing nothing.

OR they could be messing with us.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Am I the only one who was shocked by how skinny the actor appeared? His arms had withered, his jeans were baggy, he had no ass. It was a big change from last season. My guess is that there is something wrong with him (illness or drugs?) and they had to write him out. You're right, his scenes were very random, and he was set up last season to be the hero and now Little Foster is getting way more screen time.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Looked exactly the same in season 1 except his beard looked faked in this recent episode.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

No, it was quite noticeable how gaunt he looked especially in his face. I did think he was sickly or he could have dropped weight for a role?

My point was, as you've pointed out Mariah, why set him up to be the hero just to kill him off in the season opener?

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I'm comparing season 1, episode 1 to season 2, episode 1 right now. Looks exactly the same.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

he's definitely dead, he prob came back for this ep just to do them a favor.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

This is my favorite show, but I'm very upset that they killed off my favorite character. Asa was integral to the show; he was the link between the two worlds. Also, I would have liked to have seen some closure between him and G'winn (or a renewed romance), and I'm appalled that she begged him to kill Big Foster, then locked him up for killing Big Foster! I wanted to see that contradiction addressed.

Are you serious? You really have to have it spelled out for you?

He killed Big Foster and then he was out. When she realized he was going to leave again, she got him locked up for it, probably in the hopes of convincing him to stay.

You need what addressed exactly?

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

He was my favorite character too but his profile only shows him 14 episodes so he's dead for now. The prophecy states one shall destroy and one shall save the mountain. Many of us assumed it was Asa Who would save it but apparently not. I hate big fosters character and would happily see him gone instead. This seems like a writers fail but will see.

Is G'Winn pregnant IRL? She has the look of someone 3-4 months along.

I don't get how people can be around imdb and still not know how it works. IMDB is not an official source. Most actors aren't credited for episodes until the episode airs.

Ugh I know, right? No offense to Morse because he's a fine actor. The character is just so one-dimensional and predictable. The villainous villain with a big ego. Snore.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Yes the actress that plays G'win is pregnant

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Kinda messed up. They take the king Arthur myth and retell it with magic hillbillies in the USA and the first major character to die is the King Arthus archetype. Makes no sense whatsoever. I guess the actor wanted out else this doesnt add up.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I thought the wolves was a message to Asa to turn around but when they attacked I didn't know what to think, would be strange to kill him off so soon and if they are spirit animals surely they would know Big Foster is still alive and Asa isn't guilty of anything, just doesn't make sense to have him go out like that, i'm hoping it's not true, the fact that the attack happened behind the train makes me think he could still be alive.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I dont think its connected to Big Foster. More likely because he left the Mountain again after swearing not to.
But if they where spirit animals why did the ghost children give him the key to escape in the first place?

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

The show was centered around Asa, it will be weird to see the show without him. He was the link between the two worlds. Too bad. He was the very first character we were introduced to when the show first started!

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

If Asa is really dead then I'm thinking I'm out. He's really about the only character I liked.
There's not much about this clan to root for.
I like Hasiland that pregnancy will tie him to Sally Anne (who I blame not at all at dumping him)but it's kind of cliche and not enough for me.

There may be some mythology that somehow brings Asa back but with he and Big Foster somehow both surviving their deaths than nothing on this show will ever ring true.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

My favorite too. One of two things has happened. They can't afford him or they will bring him back because the storyline states how important he is to the Farrells in his return.

lol those are the only two things you could come up with?

Also, why wouldn't they be able to afford him. He's a nobody who has a few unknown credits to his name. It's not exactly as if he'd been in a Marvel movie in between seasons and they had to pay him real money all of a sudden or something.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

This article makes it pretty clear that Asa "aint comin back". There's no gray area. He was my fav character, too, but sounds like the actor and the show couldn't work it out. https://www.google.com/amp/screenertv.com/television/outsiders-cast-reacts-asa-farrell-death/amp/

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Thank you for posting that link to the article. This, plus Hasil finding Asa's arm, confirms he IS in fact dead and not coming back.

Yes, I AM Psychotic and thank you for noticing!

Ugh. Another show that doesn't know when to quit with their villains.

As for Asa, I agree, it's beyond silly. It could be a fake-out. There would be no point in him returning for one episode this season just to get such a nonsense ending.

The character is central to the story.

Morse says it's like in Game of Thrones but it's not. In Game of Thrones, they keep track of their prophecies. In season 1, they made out Asa to be some sort of returned messiah who was going to either save or destroy the clan and now well he's gone so bye I guess. Didn't look like he amounted to much.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

I don't know if I'm more pissed that asa died or that big foster lived.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

First IMDB decide to close down the messaging board and now this. Asa is the central character that bridges the two different worlds. I see they are trying to make Lil Foster become that, but just a dumb move.

But at least I now have one less show to watch.

But as other posters have said, Asa dying may be an 'alternative fact', but I will continuing hoping it is 'fake news'.

Re: Please don't let Asa be dead!

Since it seems rather clear & true that Asa's dead, I'm done with this show.

Most likely, in a few years, I'll try it out and binge some episodes, but honestly, without Asa, who was both my fave character by far as well as the glue that could clearly help to propel others' storylines, (not bury them, as Kyle Gallner (Hasil) said), the show has become odd & rudderless. Anyway, massive disappointment about one of my most interesting shows to watch.

And so no, now I'm done. I've tried watching it since but I'm just too pissed off & nonplussed about it all. Damn shame.

Wish we knew exactly what really happened that led to this strange and really, really bad decision to be made.

oh well, SNAFU for the great & wonderful TV Land!

Guess I'll check out Riverdale! Oy vey!

But damn! That first season of "Outsiders" really lit up the screen, didn't it? Again, damn shame.
