Didnt like it

Sorry just not my kinda film I rated it a 3. I thought the acting was good, but the storey line just wasnt there!

Re: Didnt like it

I didn't have clue as to what the company was all about so the story line was definitely vague. All that guy did was to spout a lot of incomprehensible B.S. about his company was cutting edge. I couldn't stand his blustering and I was hoping he would fail. He was too arrogant and then starts going around begging for money. The dude actually wanted a Gulfstream to fly around in. He couldn't probably afford to put gas in that crappy Camaro. He spends all night playing pinball and then gets upset because his employees didn't have anything to do since he doesn't direct them. I'm glad he got what he deserved in the end.

Re: Didnt like it

I don't understand why everyone is pointing out something as frivolous as the fact that what the company does is never really explained. It really has no bearing on the depth (or lack thereof) of the storyline. I thought it was a well-acted film that didn't try to do too much, aided by the fact that they never went into detail about the company because it really didn't matter anyway.

Re: Didnt like it

but the "fammily is the most important" part saved it all again, Ive expected some dramatic change tho, like keeping the pride & stuff, thatd be cheesy anyway. Regardless on Joshs performance I was bored at the end of the movie

Re: Didnt like it

I know that somewhere in this movie there is all this amazing symbolism and some deep meaning, but I didn't get it. I liked Josh Heartnett's acting, he seemed to being playing that part well whatever part that was.

Re: Didnt like it

What the heck did 9/11 have to do with anything??? Why put that in the synopsis??? I was expecting the planes to hit in like 4 scenesNOTHING!!! The only plane crash was Aliyahs. I didn't want them to, but it was in the bloody synopsis, so I expected it to have some bearing on the companies future. BAH

Re: Didnt like it

I agree. Josh Harnett's character was good and had the potential to be great but was not utilized properly.

The movie went no where and I understand that it was a character study, but a character study of what? A confident dot com CEO's company goes belly up right before 9/11 and he has to deal with it and the repercussions.

That sounds like a great premise for a movie but in execution it was just scene after scene of Tom getting bad news and dealing with it. Which is boring and uninteresting to watch.

The movie was monotonous and dull. I felt like the writers/director thought the subtleties and nuances in scenes were a lot more interesting than they were. Sometimes 'less is more' but in the case of this movie 'less was less.'

Re: Didnt like it

MovieWatcherGuy. ITA with everything you said. A total waste. Less was absolutely less in this case. I'm just glad it was "free" at Blockbuster when I renewed my Rewards membership. All I lost was the time.

Re: Didnt like it

This movie was a complete waste of time, whoever cast the 'star' for a CEO of a company has little idea what sort of person is needed to fulfil that role. The 'star' they chose to be the 'boss' couldn't start a lawnmower never mind a company.

Re: Didnt like it

The story never went anywhere so there is no reference point to understand why his company fails, thus we don't know why he fails.
We are just given the fact that he, although business savvy, is a ding-dong.
