Moana : Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

The movie was a let down in that department. Fangirls of Lin-Manuel Miranda act like he can do no wrong, but the soundtrack of Moana is just mediocre and not memorable(except How Far I'll Go, which is memorable, but sucks).

Disagreed.

Re: Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

Can't say if they sound like Hamilton rejects, but the score is one of the most ridiculously overrated I've seen for a movie for a long time. Saying this as a fan of Disney musicals.

The almost cult of personality type of following LMM has isn't helping things, with people now starting to attack La La Land because it is threatening poor golden boy's "preordaibed" EGOT status.

Re: Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

There is a difference between the score and the songs. The score was entirely written by Mark Mancina, and in my opinion is excellent. In terms of songs, I really loved "Tulou Tagaloa, "An Innocent Warrior", and "Who You Are". The rest are okay.

@The OP

The "soundtracks" to Sing and Trolls might be more your speed.

Re: Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

Haven't heard them but they can't be that much worse than Moana.

Re: Songs sound like Hamilton rejects

Exactly what I came here to say. You can immediately tell when Miranda's songs show up as they all have the same mediocre qualities.
