Moana : The accents
Re: The accents
You seem to be confused. This is not a "Hawaiian" movie, movie about Hawaiian people, or even a movie set on Hawaii.
Re: The accents
First of all, an "English accent" means that the person is from England. Since there are no English cast members, I'm assuming you meant American accents. Almost all the Disney princesses have American accents - even the ones from Scandinavia, China, France, and Arabia. I think Brave is the one where the princess has a non-American accent.
Secondly, all of the main characters are voiced by Polynesian people which brings me to my third point. It makes no sense to say you were unhappy with the New Zealander accents because Temuera Morrison, Jermaine Clement, and Rachel House are all Maori. So basically you're saying you didn't like the fact that they got actual Polynesians to play Polynesian characters because didn't like the way they sounded?
Okay.

Re: The accents
He's probably talking about the Maoris who had Kiwi accents in the movie.
It's no more unfitting than the American accents.

It's more fitting because they're actually Maori and that's how they talk.
Re: The accents
Exactly. Personally, I was thrilled with Temuera Morrison. Can't say enough good things about the man. :)
Re: The accents
Can I just say that Rachel House's accent is the most perfect old Maori woman accent I've ever heard. I feel like I've heard that exact voice so many times on the Marae!

Re: The accents
She really did well aging her voice. lol The first time I heard it, I was shocked. Dunno why, though. She's a great actress.
Re: The accents
This isn't solely a 'Hawaiian' movie. It's based on Polynesian culture, and most people on the islands in the Pacific have the kinds of accents they do in Moana.
And I'm not sure I heard any English accents.
