Race : Sudekis really?
Re: Sudekis really?
Yeah that does seem like odd casting. Granted some comedic actors have given give good dramatic performances like Robin Williams or Jim Carrey. But this guys isn't even good at comedy.
Re: Sudekis really?
Wrong.
Re: Sudekis really?
No he was right, you are wrong.
Re: Sudekis really?
Pfft, crakatoot! Too funny!
Re: Sudekis really?
In the trailer he looks lost and completely miscast. I can't imagine a whole movie's worth of watching him attempting to avoid his jack-assery and idiocy.
And I liked him on snl.
I think I'll skip this one.

Re: Sudekis really?
Just because an actor is known primarily for comedic roles doesn't mean they can't also take on dramatic roles. I think Robin Williams and Jim Carrey have proven that.
Re: Sudekis really?
Right. I thought Jason was pretty good in this.

I second that.

Third.
Re: Sudekis really?
Look at Tom Hanks' early career.

Re: Sudekis really?
I didn't think twice about seeing him in the trailer. I was just like, "oh, there's that one guy".
i mean, most people on earth (or at least half of them) have a sense of humor. He's showcased that side of himself more often in his movies than not, but its a fallacy to assume that its the extent of his personality.
I mean, even take the most serious men in history lots of times, even THEY had a sense of humor. Einstein, Winston Churchill, Alfred Hitchcock, Marlon Brando. Humor and seriousness are not mutually exclusive.

Re: Sudekis really?
You should probably wait until you see his performance in the movie before you get all judgy, bucko.
He might be excellent.

Re: Sudekis really?
Adrian Zwicker is playing Hitler. I think he's German.
Re: Sudekis really?
I can see it. Hitler looked like a little twerp. Sudekis has a little mushed up twerpy looking face. Can totally see it.

Re: Sudekis really?
He isn't playing Hitler dumb dumb.
Re: Sudekis really?
His presence doesn't look that distracting in the trailer.
What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

Re: Sudekis really?
Well I saw the movie - and he was pretty great in it! I don't know what to call you since IMDb seems to be bleeping everything out - so I'll go with dum-dum.. you're a dum-dum, OP.
Re: Sudekis really?
Have to say, I saw the film and this is definitely a surprise cause he actually played the character really well. I forgot all about the comedian/SNL part of him and just saw the coach. real good stuff.
And if you guys are interested in a review of the film-
Trying to go for an informative, and hopefully something people think is funny, youtube channel so hope you guys like. Thanks.

Re: Sudekis really?
We saw the movie last night. Sudekis was very good in the part of Coach Snyder. Thought the movie was very good, but wondered if Leni Riefenstahl was too sympathetic a character.
Re: Sudekis really?
Nah, he really graduated to fine dramatic terrritory in this movie. I completely bought him as a no-nonsense 1930's track coach.
Re: Sudekis really?
I was actually surprised by his performance. I always hate his characters because he usually seems like a douche bag, but I like him in this movie. I think he did a really good job.
Re: Sudekis really?
Yes. I'm a fan of Jason's loveable-goofball roles and was very interested in seeing how he did in this and I was delighted at his performance.
He has received many good reviews for his performance. Just check the critic reviews on this site. Early in his career Tom Hanks was viewed as a one-dimensional, cartoonish funnyman and look what he went on to accomplish. Hopefully we'll see Jason in many other diverse roles.
Robin Williams was successful in many dramatic roles, but the only successful Jim Carrey dramatic performance was The Truman Show which is nearly two decades ago. And even that I kept waiting for him to do the rubber-faced goomba thing.

Re: Sudekis really?
I finally had a chance to watch it and I agree with you. He sold it. Jason has that boy-next-door quality that is very relatable no matter what type of role he plays. I think if he chooses to continue playing dramatic characters, he will only get better.
Re: Sudekis really?
You can't prove you can do drama until someone gives you a chance to prove yourself.
Re: Sudekis really?
gee, guess Man on the Moon didn't count huh
Re: Sudekis really?
Jason did a really good job in this.
Re: Sudekis really?
He was good in this movie . The friendship, respect and caring he showed for Jesse came across rather well. I know he's known for his comedy roles but drama seems to suit him pretty well.

Re: Sudekis really?
He deliver it almost at perfection. Before this I saw him only in comedy, but he managed to show us what a good actor he really is.

Re: Sudekis really?
Needed Bruno Ganz
Re: Sudekis really?
I'm sure I am not the first person to respond to your comment but I see you didn't even watch the movie. Jason did not play Hitler nor did the trailer say or make it look like he did. I think you just need to read up on your history and actually give the movie a chance. Jason did a fine job in it and he also received a lot of great reviews for his performance.
Re: Sudekis really?
He was pretty good as Coach Synder, to be sure. Sudekis did his best and his best is good.
Nothing to write home about, however. And at least it wasn't Bill Murray in The Razor's Edge. Man, that was a crapfest.

Re: Sudekis really?
I had no idea that Jason Sudeikis was involved with SNL or was associated with comedy (a generational thing). By not knowing that fact, I was not pre-disposed to question his dramatic role. Given that, I think he did fine. Casting made a choice and went with it.
