A Monster Calls : Toby kebbell

Toby kebbell

Could have completely deleted his character from the movie and it wouldn't have changed anything.

Re: Toby kebbell

I didn't really like his character and he came off as a total deadbeat.

Re: Toby kebbell

I didn't either. like I said tho. Could have cut all his scenes and nothing would have changed

Re: Toby kebbell

I agree! Appeared fatherly but not really.

Re: Toby kebbell

"Ever thus to deadbeats, Lebowski"

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

Re: Toby kebbell

The filmmakers did their job, then. That's exactly how you're supposed to feel about the character.

Re: Toby kebbell

The character could of done with being developed more, it was probably reduced to keep the running time down.

Re: Toby kebbell

The Dad was vital for the parallels to the second story, though.

Re: Toby kebbell

Yes this 100 times yes he is totally essential to the second story. And his character is important to the young boy's character arc.

Re: Toby kebbell

Exactly. One of the key things about this movie was that it only had a few characters and every one of those characters had a purpose/a real reason for being in the story. I didn't think any of them felt pointless at all, especially not the Dad who was key to Conor's development and thought processes as well as being important for the second story.

Re: Toby kebbell

I have yet to see the film, but I hope it's not true, cause Kebbell is actually a good actor. He deserves his big break especially taken into consideration that actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie etc. is in everything, yet obviously aren't that good actors. Kebbell is. Kebbell deserves to break through.

Caesar. Is. Home.

Re: Toby kebbell

He's good in the movie. Just not necessary

Re: Toby kebbell

I guess they felt they needed him to show how alone Connor is now without his mom. He doesn't relate to grandma and dad doesn't seem to want anything to do with him. Him coming off as a deadbeat is probably what they were going for.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
