Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
Did you even read my comment or did you just come here to disagree? If you think this film will be anti-white you have not seen Denzel's films and know nothing about him or his personal beliefs.
Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
i agree with you
Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
At least say why. I do not want Denzel's reputation to get tarnished by knee jerk reactions. I know we are all tired of the "feel sorry for da slaves" films which have been force fed to use over the past few years but this is not one of those. American Gangster should be a huge hint.

Only one theater in the town where you live, huh? There are new movies released every week, many of them not to my taste. But I'm not force fed anything, and neither are you.
Re: Guy's cool it with the 'black movie' stuff.
I agree with you. All these films that are coming out with the all black cast are all propaganda films. I can see it the second I watch a preview. It's so old. This film looks different though. I've always admired and respected Denzel Washington. This movie looks like it has a heart and it's not built on hate nor does it want to be a guilt-trip. It looks good. I'll see it.
Re: Guy's cool it with the 'black movie' stuff.
I got the same sense. It doesn't look like another 'white man is bad" movie. I don't think Denzel is so short sited. Rather has has intelligence to look past all of that and just produce good movies that will stand test of time.
Re: Guy's cool it with the 'black movie' stuff.
It may be a shock to see these issues on screen, or you may feel like they're over saturated, but they're real issues for real people that make for interesting storylines. Blacks have had to deal with discrimination for decades and never had their stories told. And short of that, our society has been segregated. Even without dealing with racial issues, they have different family dynamics and different nuances to their lives. We've only ever seen the white side of the country, but blacks have their own struggles, drama, and conflict even outside of racial struggle. Fences was a movie that was very light on racial conflict, and was more geared towards family, male pride, gender roles, and the struggle between older and newer generations. I saw it as the struggle of the modern man to find his place between being an individual and a provider.
Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
I just saw the trailer and it looks to have some real potential to be awesome.
I trust in Denzel to get it done. Antoine Fisher was a bit too manipulative but it was well directed.
I will definitely check it out when it comes to my town.

Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
This is Denzel we are talking about
He's the whiny race-baiter who said this:
I know Im swimming upstream A whole lot of people in the country wont go to a movie Im in because Im black. Period.
*beep* him and his race-card.
Oh, and most prison inmates are "Christians", it doesn't make them good people.
Re: Guy's cool it with the 'black movie' stuff.
Do you think that Denzel Washington gives a rat's ass about what you think about him? I will answer that for you and the answer is HELL NAW!!!! Find something to do that is positive to make the world a better place.
Re: Guy's cool it with the "black movie" stuff.
Uhseriously? Left-wing issues deal with real people facing real issues tootired of you conservatives acting like you always got a fckg claim on what the people think and need. I knew there would be a bunch of white people on this board fkng whining and complaining about the film (who haven't even sen it yet, duh) because it deals with issues pertinent to black people, because, well, DUH, it was written by a black playwright (August Wilson) who, BTW, is considered one of the best American playwrights of the last 30 years. I mean, why the hell can't y'all just wait until the film gets to the damn theater like any OTHER film, and actually watch before you dump all of your political bull**** and your own racial issues on it? White people are NOT the only damn people on this planet who have powerful stories to tell from their own cultures.
So get the fck over yourselves, please. And,racism, the aftermath of the effects of slavery ARE part of African-American history in this historywe sure as hell didn't choose it, that's how it happened. I mean, damn, as a black filmgoer, it's nice to see a film that deal with black people and their issues for a change. Most of films coming out of Hollywood are 99% about white people, yet some of you want to slam this film already just because you don't want to deal with the issues of racism as it affected black people in the time period it's set (the 1950s. If you cant deal with that, don't see it then. White people need to realize that not every film about a black person is about y'all or your so-called "white guilt" trips-it's about US and our celebration of OURSELVES as black Americans, thank you very much. It's not about YOU or whatever the hell y'all think about black folksit's about seeing a film that's reflection of our past, present, and future. Now shut up, quit whining about it and go see the film.
It amazes me that this is the 21st century and some white folks still act like they can't relate to a damn thing their fellow black Americans do, as if we're foreigners or somethingit's ridiculous. They can't stand to see a film that isn't all about them for a change. Especially when we do some of the same ordinary everyday things y'all dogo to work, go to school, have fun with out families in the summer and grilling baby back ribs for the fourth of July, etc. If we could look at out commonalities as Americans and not be so damn focused on our differences to the point of insanity (like we usually are) we would get along and come to know each better without all the racist bull**** that's been handed down to us throughout the 500 years this country has existed. That's all the hell I'm trying to say.

Re: Guy's cool it with the 'black movie' stuff.
Probably the best comment I've seen on IMDb about a black film and the ridiculous whining because of a cast and story that focuses on others.
Awesome, activista!
