Re: Cancelled

yup the just finished filming ep 11 i think but whether or not they will actually air the eps til then well

Re: Cancelled

Nope, they're pulling it out immediately, with little hope for airing the rest of the epis. Kind of sucks, but looks like CBS made a mistake thinking that Friday slot could be largely improved when they pulled jericho and moonlight. Sad to say I actually enjoyed the ex list, if for nothing else than seeing Liz, but hey At least we can look forward to another procedural cop drama from cbs in it's place. ghey.

Re: Cancelled

Who didnt see this coming

Re: Cancelled

I thought this looked like a good show. Just don't plan on booking every friday night to watch a tv show. Oh, well.wish they would've given it another time slot.

Re: Cancelled

If CBS had any balls, they would publicly admit their mistake for cancelling Moonlight and revive production the same way Fox did for Family Guy.

But of course the CBS suits will never admit to making a mistake.

Re: Cancelled

Give it a chance cbs, it was decent and had a lot of promise. it was s good cast. it was cbs's vault in my opninon. don't put a show about a single girl on a friday night when other single people are out. cbs needs to get themselves together.

Re: Cancelled

I am so bummed about this. This is one of the few new shows I actually liked and looked forward to watching (even my husband enjoyed the show and he doesn't watch anything on tv but sports). Also, it doesn't matter what night it is on. I never watch any show the night/time it actually comes on. With DVRs, the Friday night time slot should not make a diffence.

Re: Cancelled

Hopefully they'll finish the 13 episodes and at least finish the story. Makes sense for potential DVD sales and overseas.

Re: Cancelled

Whenever ANY series is cancelled why don't they just post the unaired episodes on any of the myriad of websites that carry tv shows? And if possible, tape and post a series finale that wraps up any loose ends and open story lines. I think this might be why TV viewing is down so much. People don"t want to get invested in a series that will be cancelled before its conclusion.

Re: Cancelled

they are finishing filming up through episode 13, so maybe they will rewrite the last episode to end it

Re: Cancelled

Well said. I wholeheartedly agree w/ your post, especially the part directly above. The networks should finally wise up and realize this.

Re: Cancelled

I absolutely agree with you, mrpacker. There are several shows that I would very much like to know where the characters would have ended up. And I am tired of investing my time in a show that may or may not have a story arc. I want to know what the real story ending was suppose to be for Buffy and Angel. I want to know what happened to all the people at Sports Night. I want an ending to Wonderfalls and Joan of Arcadia. Anything But Love got canceled and then uncanceled and then canceled, again all within six weeks. They aired a few episodes and then lost interest, leaving the audience hanging. ABC canceled Monk. Cable picked it up and made it a success. ABC brought Monk back to network. Canceled it, again. And, Monk is back on Cable in it's seventh? year.

I don't have cable and I don't have a converter box. Come February, I'll be off the tv grid because I just can't be bothered with the network aggravation. I have a library card and I live within walking distance of the library. And before I commit to taking any book home to read, I can check to make sure ALL THE PAGES are there to ensure I get a whole story. Ironically, it was the movie Network, that brought us that great line I'm going to lift and alter to express my feelings about watching network television:
I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to watch it, anymore!

Re: Cancelled

I thought it was a really good show and I'm bummed it was cancelled, as there are so few shows I enjoy.

Re: Cancelled

I hope all of you Moonlight fanatics who were whining that Moonlight was cancelled and replaced by the Ex List and who posted negative things about it are happy now that the Ex List was cancelled. However, it doesn't bring back Moonlight now does it? I hope you all feel better now.

Re: Cancelled

i kind of do feel better now.

thanks!

Re: Cancelled

I'm disappoiunted. I was a Moonlight fan and enjoyed The Ex List. I'm so pisssed at CBS for nity giving Friday night shows the chances they need.

Re: Cancelled

Thanks. I DO feel better!

It makes me sad to think that YOU'VE never cared about a show enough to "whine" about it. Anyway, I kind of thought it was called 'voicing an opinion.' Silly me. Hmmmm

Re: Cancelled

this makes me sad.. it was a good show.. i mean they could finish off the season because the whole idea was she had a year to find a guy.. end it with finding the guy..

they seem to cancel such great shows.. and leaving all this same ole same ole on TV really how many crime dramas do they NEED on TV?

Re: Cancelled

laugh.gif That's what they get for replacing Moonlight with a crap show like this. PCA's don't lie!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Re: Cancelled

Agreed. Perhaps they'd consider moving it over to the CW or TMC for the rest of the run and see how it fares 'off-channel.' CBS, you listening?

Re: Cancelled

I just move on when my shows are cancelled. Sure I've been upset about shows being cancelled (like Men In Trees and Swingtown-though it wasn't cancelled it was just never picked up for anymore seasons because it was supposed to be just a midseason replacement) but I don't obsessively cry about it. Look what happened to Jericho. There's a program that was cancelled, people whined about it so the show was brought back. It was still cancelled a second time because it was still garbage. Just move on.

Re: Cancelled

I really liked this show! It reminds me of Kitchen Confidential, which I also thought was great, but also got canceled early on.

I thought the humor was fun and infectious and it was great to see Elizabeth Reaser doing something more upbeat than being a nutjob on Grey's. Also happy to see Alexandra Breckenridge from Dirt. Oh well, there's always Joss Whedon's new show to look forward to, and Rob Thomas' remake of Cupid

Re: Cancelled

it was a fun show, i especially enjoyed rachel boston and the couple of brief appearances william russ had as the father. if diane ruggiero had stayed involved and CBS hadn't meddled with the show so much that she had to quit, i think it would have been more successful. it's surprising that with a show as successful as ghost whisperer leading off and another hit at 10 with numb3rs, they haven't been able to place a show at 9 o'clock with any kind of staying power.

this moonlight stuff is ridiculous. i watched the show and enjoyed it and only missed 1 episode. but it's gone and nothing is gonna bring it back. if enough people watched it, they wouldn't have cancelled it. shows get cancelled all the time and most don't come back for a 2nd season. it's time to move on and find something else to watch. threshold was a show i enjoyed even more than moonlight and it didn't even last a full season.

Re: Cancelled

I really liked this show! They didn't even give it a chance to survive. They should at least let it go through all filmed episodes.

Re: Cancelled

I figured the show would get canceled, what makes it really irritating is that CBS canceled Moonlight for this. Bummer indeed! :(

Re: Cancelled

I doubt that CBS 'canceled Moonlight for this'. It canceled Moonlight, and the slot was filled with 'Ex'.
I feel the same with 'pussycat dolls' taking over Veronica Mars' timeslot. VM was smart, well written, engaging and had a dream cast - but no one watched!
When a show about a vapid singing group, that cost nothing to make, gets better numbers that was the final blow for Veronica.
I still feel bitter, and would never watch a show like 'cats'. But if people prefer crap to brain tickling quality, quality is swept away.
I didn't think Ex List was much of a show, but I loved most of it. OK, the male roomies seemed tacked on, but the female cast was engaging. And the storyline was very flexible. I was happy just to see San Diego and ER's luminous smile every week. The last time I had seen her was on 'saved', where she played a dour doctor. She looks a lot better smiling, and she carried the bikini top much better than the lab coat!

Re: Cancelled

That stinks. I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks, but it was a new showL that I was willing to give a shot. Like one of the reviewers said, it wasn't largely funny, but it did sort of have an interesting plot.

I don't hold out much hope for Friday night shows anyway though.

Re: Cancelled

May 12, 08 CBS announces that it has picked up some new shows for the next season they include: "The Eleventh Hour" "The Mentalist" The Ex List" and "Harper's Island".There was no word on which night these shows would air but there was rumors that "The eleventh hour" could be bound for a post CSI Thursday night spot.

May 12,08 The new CBS drama Moonlight has a 50/50 chance of being canceled. CBS is high on a bunch of its new drama pilots this year and there may not be enough room for this one. "The Unit" which is expected to secure its renewal is speculated to take over Moonlight's time slot next season.

These two articles were reported on the same day at http://weblogs.variety.com/

http://weblogs.variety.com/on_the_air/2008/05/upfronts-cbs-di.html/
http://weblogs.variety.com/on_the_air/2008/05/upfronts-moonli.html/

The Ex List DID NOT get anything canceled, CBS canceled Moonlight because they didn't like the numbers. Plain and simple. You don't have to like it but that is the truth. They did not decide to cancel it and then look for a replacement, they had already decided on several shows they wanted to try out and it was possibly luck that "The Ex List" just happened to be the one there. We could just as easily be talking about any number of the other shows they had already purchased way before they canceled this show.

It is not like they cancel a show and then the next day they decide to go and and buy a replacement, shows take time to develop, every network right now has what they call mid-season replacement shows lined up in case they have to cancel something. They bought those shows a while back and have been holding them back just in case.

CBS was going to cancel "Moonlight" regardless of if anyone ever developed "The Ex List" or not, so please stop saying " I can't believe they canceled it for this", because they didn't. At this point it is unlikely anything you say or do will bring back your show, I am sorry for you, I know you loved it a lot, but coming here and trying to make us feel bad when we have now lost the show we loved is not right.

Have I ever lost a show I loved? Of course I have. It is almost impossible to watch television anymore these days and not have something canceled, the networks don't give much of anything a chance anymore.

Do you even remember "Reunion" on Fox? most people don't, it didn't much publicity like "Moonlight", but it was my favorite show and they cut it off after just a few episodes, and it was a murder mystery. It upset me a lot, but I would never try to get someone else's favorite show canceled to make myself feel better.

More recently my favorite show was Jericho and I think you know how that turned out, and now I was really digging The Ex List. Please don't presume that you are the only person that ever loved a show and had it canceled. Pretty soon Pushing Daises and Dirty Sexy Money is going to be gone, but I guess that will make you happy too.

There is no reason to want other people unhappy just because you are.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "The Friday night Death Slot"? It is the belief that a show is most likely to get cancelled if it comes on on a Friday night. I don't know if it is true or not, but obviously "Moonlight" got hit by it, Friday night is when most people go out and have a day night, or hang out with friends, not stay home and watch TV.

Now "The Ex List" is cancelled, before that "Moonlight" and before that was "Close to Home" it was in the same time slot the season before and it was canceled but at least it got to run for two seasons. It only moved to the time slot mid-season, you know why? Because the show that had been there, "Threshold" was canceled".

The last time they actually had a hit show in that time slot was "Jag", which was originally aired on NBC, then canceled, then picked up by CBS, I don't honestly know if it was always show on Friday nights, but they have tried out a new show in its time slot every season since it went off the air in 2005.

It is simply not a good time slot and CBS needs to recognize that, even "The Ghost Whisperer" and "Numbers" has been declining" and they may get canceled in the next couple of years unless CBS just decides to ignore the numbers and leave them on since its Friday night.

*Rant Off* - Sorry sometimes I just get upset when people seem to want to be mean just for the sake of it, can we just agree that the two shows have nothing to do with one another?

Re: Cancelled

Thank god they cancelled this travesty. One can only take so many shows about a woman who sleeps with everything she bumps into to. CBS made this decision smartly. The show was doomed from the start by bad acting and even worse writing. See ya Bella.

Re: Cancelled

Unfortunately I'm not surprised, but that doesn't make me any less disappointed. I actually enjoyed this show. It was a light and fun way to end the week, and start the weekend. I'll survive though. I've done it before!

Re: Cancelled

There goes another great show! It makes no sense to pay all that money to film episodes and not run them! This show was really good! Some shows I watch I could live without but this one was becoming my new "friends" fix! The whole Neilsen thing is ridiculous! Sorry, not everyone is priveledged enough to be apart of the study so how can they take that one study and say it is a failer? I honestly do not watch ANY live TV anymore because I have DVR. I record my shows and watch them when the kids are asleep so I have my time to relax and enjoy it.

What I don't understand is why there are people talking about Moonlighting on the EX List board??? They are 2 completly different shows so if you wanna gripe about Moonlighting getting replaced, go to the Moonlighting board. And another note on Moonlighting, it was just another version of "Angel" and it got cancelled too. Not dumping on people, just stating a fact.

THE EX LIST WAS GREAT! MISS IT ALREADY, I WANT IT BACK.PLEASE!!! :-)

Re: Cancelled

FYI- it was Moonlight not Moonlighting. And it wasn't just another version of Angel, far from it.

Re: Cancelled

I definitely have some satisfaction over seeing this canceled. Now Lipstick Jungle has been moved to Friday so we'll see if that's a death knell for them. And yes, I know they're on different networks!

Re: Cancelled

Wow, they didn't even give the show enough time to see if it picked up. Common sense should tell them not everyone is home on a Friday night and the numbers might not indicate if the show sucks or not. Awful decision on their part, yet they'll keep crap shows on the air if it's about crime or reality.

What a joke.

Re: Cancelled

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! This dumb show is history. They should take Jennifer Love Spewitt off the air too.

Re: Cancelled

manshows are never given a chance anymore. I remember friends did terribly there first few episodes. But they kept it for the entire 1st season. And what happened because they gave it a chance? it went on to be a legendary series.

I'm not saying The ex list is the greatest show on earth, but i enjoyed it. AT LEAST GIVE US HER SOULMATE!

I mean geez, they already shot 11 episodes..MIGHT as well air all of those and maybe more viewers will pick it up. I didn't even know about this show until the day it premiered because of IMDB. i honestly think CBS and FOX have a large problem when it comes to promoting their new shows. i almost never know about them til its too late.

"feared or loved? Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me"

Re: Cancelled

I agree with other posters that I wish they could tell us who the Soul Mate is.

I thought it was a cute show, I also liked Swingtown, I would have liked to have found out what happened to the characters after the 70's.

There was a show on Fox called "Vanished" and after it was canceled, they showed the rest of the episodes online so would know what happened. That was great!

Re: Cancelled

This was shaping up to be a really cute show. I'm very saddened that it's been canceled. I seriously don't understand these networks. They start a series and oh my because the neilson people don't immediately hook onto it they yank it from the airwaves. FFS just give it a chance to catch on. 3 episodes is nothing. I'm so tired of them doing this to us.

Oh well guess the only show I'm going to watch on cbs is the big bang theory. FYI I watch it online so I can skip the commercials. So you're not getting my $$ from the advertisers anyway. Dumb@$$es!!!

Re: Cancelled

I think it was shaping up to be a great show too until the episode two weeks ago with the dumb party boy. The guy got way too much airtime and was a vapid waste of space. People like that are the reason I left Cali and I was not about to keep watching that episode to see him. Annoying characters like can destroy any momentum that may have been created at the outset and ultimately kill a show.

Re: Cancelled

I watched Vanished and Swingtown too. I don't get it either, the canceling so quickly that is. At least the CW isn't like that! If Supernatural was on any other station it would've been long gone which would suck because it is an awesome show!

Re: Cancelled

I thought it was a cute premise..but I have to admit that it started to wear thin after watching several episodes and the writing was getting weaker.

Re: Cancelled

I have to agree with you, suzy8track. Although the show had a cute and fun idea every episode began to be the same. We all knew that the man she was back "with" wouldn't be the one or the whole show would end. I think this show would have been a much better mini-series or made-for-tv movie.

Re: Cancelled

The premise wan't really the thing I liked about it, it was the comedy and relationship of the characters. I never should have started liking it - because CBS always kills shows I love. I made a pact after Joan of Arcadia was cancelled that I would never watch CBS but decided to watch this show and it gets cancelled, too. DIE CBS DIE!
