Finding Dory : "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

"Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Anyone think that joke was kind of messed up? Sure, Dory was annoying, but the kids were disappointed that she didn't die? It kind of made me feel sorry for Dory.

Re: 'Is she dead?' 'No.' 'awwwww'

I thought that was one of the biggest LOL moments in the film, personally.

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

She is annoying as hell, but you still have that love for her.

Reminder: The O.C. resets to its first episode on POP network April 1 @ 2 p.m. EST

Re: 'Is she dead?' 'No.' 'awwwww'

I kind of liked that part because it made me feel like my nephew is normal. He always gets weirdly excited when he hears someone dies and it weirds me out. He's 10. I know he's old enough to know what death is but I honestly think he (and tons of other kids) have no idea how serious it is.

Re: 'Is she dead?' 'No.' 'awwwww'

That's not normal, though.

Re: 'Is she dead?' 'No.' 'awwwww'

Most children and even teens are what we would classify as sociopaths. Their emotional minds are not fully developed yet and this leads to inhibited empathy. People quite literally grow out of that.

Yeah, I thought that was weird.

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

A not uncommon impulsive reaction by immature kids looking to be rid of someone they find annoying. Everyone had fantasies about doing away with some undesirable personality as a kid.

Of course, you were supposed to be feeling sorry for Dory. The movie had just gone through her tragic backstory and she's now in the midst of reliving it herself.

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

The entire theater (myself included) was cracking up at that line LMAO

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Disney has always been dark like this. I thought it was odd at first but then was like, "that's Disney for ya!"

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Yes! I found that a bit dark and it definitely surprised me. Regardless if Dory was annoying or not. All of them went "awwwww" was like. disturbing. Yes they're kids but to show it in a kid's movie.. damn.

Re: 'Is she dead?' 'No.' 'awwwww'

I agree. I was taken aback when I heard it and had to think about it for a moment. Did they really "aww" at the fact Dory DIDN'T die? Like, what the hell?

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Yeah I found that really hateful. tbh I found the whole thing hugely disappointing but that I thought was just nasty.

turns out the hairy one's a dude. metal one too. all dudes

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

I took as more that kids are fascinated by anything dead than that they were hoping Dory was dead in particular. Remember the little turtle in 'Finding Nemo' who asked "Mr. Fish, did you die?"

I can't imagine the writers putting over the idea that the kids wanted Dory to die, so I'm going to go with that not being their intention; just a child's natural disappointment that they aren't seeing something interesting.

Here's a question though: It's a year later. Why aren't ANY of those kids any older?

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

^this exactly

They probably have never seen anything die before, so they thought this would be the first time to encounter something like that, but nope, no such "luck"

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

A child's vocabulary isn't developed yet. They might not understand what the word "dead" means (the concept of death is even harder to understand).

Maybe they think that word means "permanently quiet" (not necessarily deceased). They want Dory to be quiet.

We assume they're using the word "dead" correctly, but they might not be.

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

Kids don't really understand death. And Dory was kind of annoying (for them), probably. I laughed.

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

I don't think it had anything to do with Dory being annoying.I think the Awww was just because someoneanyonewasn't dead.
Its the little kid fascination with how cool it would be if someone died in front of them.

Have you ever noticed that the people who say "DC is for adults and Marvel is for kids", are kids?

Re: "Is she dead?" "No." "awwwww"

if you hadnt noticed, pixar has a great disdain for kids.
