Hugo Weaving is an amazing actor.

Re: Hugo Weaving
He was fantastic, really, I was mainly used to seeing him play more fun characters like agent smith, elrond, V, or red skull, but this is the first time I've seen him play an emotional role and he did a great job
Re: Hugo Weaving
Best performance in the movie in my opinion. Weaving did a stellar job.
Re: Hugo Weaving
see his performance in Australian movie 'the Interview" from some years back..
Weaving's apartment door is kicked in, and startled bewildered Weaving is roughed up and brought in to be questioned about a a 2-bit stolen car , which turns into something darker..the whole movie is the back and forth at the station between him and primarily the lead detective played by Blue Murder's Tony Martin..
last I looked, movie was on Youtube..

Re: Hugo Weaving
Hugo was great.
I've never seen him in a serious drama before.
Nice surprise.

Re: Hugo Weaving
You should watch "Mystery Road". Weaving is exceptional in it.
He was the only good thing about Hacksaw Ridge, which is not a very good film at all.

Re: Hugo Weaving
yeah i really liked his performance, great actor
Re: Hugo Weaving
Yeah Elrond killed it in this movie. He really potraited a war veteran to the teeth. I really loved his performance as the anguish father who have skeletons in his closet. Every line and nuisance was performed excellency.
Hugo Weaving
That scene at the dinner table when he first sees his elder son in uniform was beautifully acted. Seeing him like that was as a knife right through him. Talking ironically and bitterly about how he almost looked like a movie star, subtly mocking the propaganda of the military before inevitably vomiting up his memories and nightmares of the war and the people he lost. Breaking apart with each passing second. Or the scene at the graveyard where he smashes a bottle over the headstone and bloodies his hand. And of course the scene where he interjects on his son's behalf at the trial. Holding himself together through sheer force of will it seemed, all tattered pride and wounded honour.
I wonder if the role was an exorcism of sorts too for Gibson and his own demons. A very vulnerable and moving portrayal. Made all the sadder when the kid asked his mother why he hated them. And she, wistfully, saying she wishes he could have known him before: before the war, the death, the nightmares, the booze and abuse. Excellent performance.
