Hacksaw Ridge : Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Seriously, why should I care about him? Using his religion like he's better than everyone. Oh I forgot he was "heroic" because he refused to defend his country during WWII. Its a shame this looks otherwise looks like a good action packed war film.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Why should we give a flying funk what you think?

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

PrissyLands1 was raped by priests when he was a child.

HAhhahahahaaaaa 😅😄😍😘I was waiting for that what a baby, I'm in WA, and you could come to my dojo, I train with former PRIDE fighters from Brazil, choking you would be too easy, but the fact you have no discipline, and THREATEN people ONLINE shows, you don't train, how old are you?

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Watch it first before spouting stupid criticism, you even used one of the characters lines that asked him if he thinks he is better than them.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Why should we take the opinion of someone with the nickname; "guncrazy54" seriously?

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

@ somanytakennames Thank you for encapsulating it so perfectly. I am embarrassed that I did arrive at the same response. Well done.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

At what point did he act like he was better than anyone? You're coming to the same wrong conclusion that characters in the movie arrived at. He's just a devout man with a moral aversion to violence. He laments the necessity of it, but he doesn't deride or berate his fellow soldiers for being willing to take up arms.

Who loves ya, baby?

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

Thanks for the reply, Kitari. I'll forward it to the OP.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

You are "supposed" to spend some money to watch a movie. After that, there is no one who will ever care what you thought about it.

Deal with it.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

I think it's pretty obvious that you're supposed to find his actions incredibly heroic. The guy saved lives. The testimony is in the tears of the men who were with him on the battlefield. The film isn't particularly coy about any of this.

There's some hostility in the beginning, some of which was just a theatre to try and get him to leave for political reasons and for his own sake. But even the people who genuinely held a grudge were overwhelmingly won over--not by his beliefs but by his character and fortitude.

Cuckold Ridge

Terrible movie. Mel sold his soul to get 'hack' into the game.

Re: Why am I supposed to care about a bible thumper who won't fight?

but he does not refuse military service...

I do not even really believe in or respect conscientious objection as such, in the form it normally takes, and as often as not it is just dodgy, but he contributes high value to the war effort.

If he was not there, someone else would have to do what he does, and they would not be carrying a gun.

You must acknowledge that he not only does not avoid personal risk, but embraces more of it than the average.
