Westworld : Bullets explained ! ! !

Bullets explained ! ! !

I know how the bullets work !

Smart bullets, if we can develop bullets now that can change trajectory, then I am sure we can develop ones that change impact. So while a bullet will kill a host, a bullet shot at a guest will change the impact from deadly to a bean bag like kick, hence will William gets knocked on his ass after being shot multiple times.

I had this theory since the show first aired, but friends of mine who also watch the show, didn't like or disagreed with this theory. But I think this is right..

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Do the bullets that knock a guest down also have a feature that prevents them from hitting the guests eyes?

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Most likely if they can change trajectory to avoid face shots, or you probably get popped in the eye with a bean bag shot.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Do they avoid penis shots too? That would do more than knock you down.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

They are so worried about a robot going off script but never about such a complicated bullet system.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Its because this show sucks.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

It's bullets that can knock you down if they hit your shoulder, but avoid eyes, throat and genitals, right? Do you realize how absurd that sounds? The writers did not address this oddity because they can't explain it. They also don't address why rich guests think killing robots who can't defend themselves is fun.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

I agree. People come up with these silly theories for something that can't be explained. The bullet or gun would have to tell the future. How would it know if you were gonna jump, duck, sprint, or hit the deck now imagine a room full of people. A bullet meant to burst a bottle or kill a host would without a doubt kill you in that situation.

Least mention arrows or being struck by a beanbag round while on a horseback, If galloping odds are you're dead but even at a standstill it could kill you. I didn't start the thread for those who are gonna say stop picking nit. I'd like to point out the bullets are far from being explained, well at least in a rational way.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Dude -_-

Currently, there are military and experimental projects that have tested bullets that change trajectory by inches; so I am saying if they can develop curving bullets, surely they can develop bullets that ''in seconds" that can change from lethal to non-lethal..

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

SPOILER

Are you serious? Are you comparing those bullets to a smart bullet that can in a millisecond decide what kind of bullet it's gonna be? So basically it changes it's complete composition in a fraction of a second in a room full of people running and jumping around and this seems possible to you? That is absolutely crazy and as I said before, don't try to explain the most impossible part of a impossible story.

It's not even the part I dislike the most. What I hated was after a full season of hearing about a new narrative, who's the MIB, the maze, and not knowing if I was watching a flashback or not that we were treated to such weak answers. The MIB/William is a jerk well just because, the maze is a child's toy, and Ford must be superhuman to point f'ing godly to plan everything the way he did.

So basically if you can swallow all the other BS who f'ing cares about the ammo they use or how it works.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

The best theory is that the bullets, by default, are not deadly to anyone, but that the hosts are designed to react to them in a way that makes them appear deadly (i.e. they spout blood, keel over in agony, die, etc).

As far as getting hit in the face, I'm sure the hosts are designed to never aim in that region. As we see later in the show as the hosts start to rebel, they are quite capable at hitting their target at the moment they intend to, so I don't think they'd ever accidentally shoot a guest in the head, even if they did something like jump or duck at the last second.

As for guest-on-guest violence, well, that can come in many forms beyond just the bullets so I'd expect a release of liability in the fine print of whatever contract they sign upon entering.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Yes, I thought about that too, that the bullets may be rubber or a bean bag, and a host appears to be shot on contact with the bullet.

But I just like the smart bullet theory, because currently there are experimental projects and programs testing smart bullets (curving bullets).

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

Dude, they explained it in the show. The bullets are basically like paintballs. On a regular person they will leave a bruise, and if you get hit point blank range it can cause a good ammount of damage, but the robots are built so that their flesh is weaker.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

My theory: intelligent weapons

- non lethal when a host shoots a human to the torso (maybe the default routine for the hosts, that was their function after all, being a 'menace' without killing the fun)
- working as a weapon when is a) host vs host b) human shooting anything c) host shooting a human in the head, however, you could see the hosts had this mode deactivated, they needed special privileges to shoot like that.

Of course the weapons used by the security staff inside the complex don't have these restrictions, so even the hosts can free kill anybody with them.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

This was bothering me ever since the first episode. It's a huge problem.

Re: Bullets explained ! ! !

And the show itself isn't?
