Westworld : Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Funny question to ask since if you stopped watching. I stopped after 6 or 7 episodes. Just didn't really like any of the characters and too much gratuitous nudity and violence.

I was hoping for something better.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I stopped watching the series after Episode 10, and I'll resume watching when Season 2 starts because I absolutely loved the show!

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Me too, i just HAD to stop watching, i couldnt get any further.
I might give it another go in 2018 or something.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I'd never stop watching Gemma's breasts.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

breast in the name but talking about gratuitous nudity, irony or troll?

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Neither. When you think about it, it's pretty depressing to watch a series involving people who its a "vacation" to go shoot and kill what appear to real-life human beings.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

It's pretty depressing to think you think they're human beings. If you find it depressing, why not just watch whatsername's boobs.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

They look pretty real. If you encountered these characters at Westworld you wouldn't have a seed of doubt?

Gemma Arterton

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Pretty depressing if you talk about this show as if you're discussing real life. Watch out for androids.

How low can adults sink?? Just ask Sinister. He loves comics and hates women.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Then you didn't understand the show. That's one of the main points all along. In that case, watch the last few episodes, maybe you'll get it.

There's a reason the show is seen as a masterpiece, how even great minds like Sam Harris discuss it, or how even George Martin says it's better than Game of Thrones. Perhaps you need more time, and I don't mean that as an insult. The show IS at some points deep and subtle, and many people just label those parts as pseudo-intellectual, unable to understand the meaning behind a certain quote.

The detail given to this show is amazing. I have seen many shows, good ones, be it the more popular ones or the "hidden gems". In terms of details, nothing comes close to this.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Too much nudity and violence?

Honestly, where the hell are all these PC snowflake crybabies coming from.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

How does "too much nudity and violence" translate into "PC snowflake crybabies"?

That's an enormous leap of logic and likely outside your capacity.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

You're not exactly well equipped when it comes to IQ points, are you

I grew up in a warzone and work as a medical doctor in the ER, come work a shift with me and you'll crawl into fetal position and cry after half an hour. I still tell you that there's too much pointless violence and nudity. This is just another show made for the typical pseudo-intellectual of today, in other words, for people who are too stupid to realize how stupid they are and as a result of that get impressed by anything they watch that required even a little big of brainpower to understand or enjoy.

That's so great. A doctor invites hundreds of strangers into the ER where he works. What's the address for your hospital?

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

There are far worst things in life than working in a warzone, on ER or whatever. How about BE THE PATIENT? I live in and out of hospitals all my life and I find this series quite interesting. It's not the nudity nor the violence that I like. But the technology they seem to use and the way their minds work. All these twists and plot, and it has an ethical substant, how cruel our world really is! we use people and everything for our pleasure where there are more significant things into us. This series shows it to us, right in our face! the reference of the 7deadlySins on ep2 was remarkable!

Please reform that thought:
" This is just another show made for the typical pseudo-intellectual of today, in other words, for people who are too stupid to realize how stupid they are and as a result of that get impressed by anything they watch that required even a little big of brainpower to understand or enjoy."

makes you sound so..shallow!

forgive my grammar mistakes, I'm greek!

Amazing that he would get so upset people are enjoying a fictional show that he probably doesn't even watch. Does not compute.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

maybe he just wanted to show off!

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

the solution is simple he is a liar

I want to know what a little big of brainpower means.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I want to know what a little big of brainpower means.

Maybe he does mean a "little big", like if you say:"How do you like our tree?", the other says:"It's a little big don't you think?".
While it is not grammatically correct, it is a manner of speaking.
In this sentence, the word "big" is the emphasis, because the person saying it does think that the tree is too big for their liking.
So maybe the show is too smart for him?

But i think it is a cryptic message, maybe something of a riddle, or a maze.

A "big" in Dutch means "piglet", so i think he is drawing a comparison to the little piglet, like a little baby, the little piglet is very dumb :(
But, a piglet of brainpower.. hmm, pigs are said to have the anatomy that resembles us in many ways. A droplet of potion, a piglet of brainpower..

A Piglet of Power BRAINPOWER!
Well, if the Piglet of Power can enjoy this show, then so can I.

To George Clooney in the ER:
Anyway, the movies were much more shallow than the show in my opinion, so i think the show has improved on that.
But im also not saying that this show is super smart either, its fancy schmancy on many occasions, convoluted at points where it isnt always needed, but thats just their formula and im alright with going along with it.

I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Or maybe not PCcrybabies, but rather people who like the premise but would prefer the show concentrate more on plot. The operative words would be "too much" or "gratuitous", much like the F bombs. I really believe it must be somebody's job to go back and add them to the script. They actually seem silly half the time.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Good to know. Thanks for stopping by.Poor soul.Never seen a naked person or someone being shot on TV.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I had to look up Gemma Arterton to see who she isI still have no idea but she does have nice breasts though.

"I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture and kill them."

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Not everything is for everyone, I'm sorry you missed the brilliance of this show. I started watching it yesterday and only stopped to sleep. The nudity and violence wasn't gratuitous either, gratuitous means uncalled for or lacking meaning, all the violence and sex had meaning, it's what drove them to rebel. Absolutely not gratuitous.

Always remember to read the small print, it helps avoid confusion.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Brilliance is a strong word

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Nolans brothers are extremely good at making average people feel smart.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Haha indeed. I really like the show, and it has great twists and moments. But this slowness and carefully constructed vagueness feels too much like someone trying more to appear clever than actually being clever.
Westworld simply leaves away a compelling foreground story with a strong hook and tried to sell this failure as brilliance.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I like you a lot !

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

What brilliance? Does everything requires even a big of brainpower fall into the category of "brilliance" nowadays?

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I just stopped at ep 5 or 6 and never looked back, but it wasn't because of the nudity or violence. It was just too slow for me. I mean how many times is Cyclops going to die before we get any real progression? Yes that was part of the mystery but not for me.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I stopped after the first episode because I found the premise rather boring.

One day in the year of the fox came a time remembered well

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Name me another show where you know the premise after just one episode. After the first episode of Westworld I had no real clue what even the premise was gonna be. And after the season finale, the first episode wasnt anything like the final episode.

Im sure people would find you rather boring as well after just one hour. But after 10 hours? Maybe not so.

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Maybe you couldn't gather the premise but it was glaringly obvious starting from the first episode. Maybe you didn't watch the original WW but I did. The premise can be gathered within the first half hour of the first episode itself. A western themed amusement park being populated by bio-mechanical androids which then becomes sentient and starts killing the human populace. It's not an original story. Maybe you should take a look at plethora of sci-fi media using the same "Robot kills humans" premise.

And maybe you should learn what an "opinion" is and take it at face value before acting like a salty butthurt fanboy.

One day in the year of the fox came a time remembered well

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Westworld is so much more than what you summed up. Extremely simplified. The Maeve arc, Teddy arc, Arnold and Dolores arc, Ford arc. Wasnt at all present in the first episode. And how they all crisscrossed even less. And then theres MiB owning the show.

And the fact youve only seen one episode says enough.

The movie pales in comparison to the shows themes.

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Like I said I did not like the premise, I did not say anything about the whole story. What you described is not the premise of the show but the storylines and the details.

One day in the year of the fox came a time remembered well

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Well the premise is not exactly "AI WAKING UP AND KILLING ALL HUMANS" either, as you so delicately described it :)

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

It is that exactly. Maybe you don't know what premise means.

One day in the year of the fox came a time remembered well

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Since you only have seen one episode, I dont think you understand how ignorant you are on the premise.

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I don't think you understand what premise means in film-making. Premise (n) "The premise of a film or screenplay is the initial state of affairs that drives the plot. For example - A small town is terrorized by a shark (premise of Jaws)". If that's too complicated to understand then here - http://www.filmmakingstuff.com/story-just-movie-premise/

The premise of the show is exactly "A western themed amusement park with a biomechanical android populace, who later turn sentient". The first half of that sentence can be gathered by the first 5 minutes of the pilot. The second half can be gathered by many intelligent person by the end of the first episode, and for someone who's seen lots of sci-fi media, within just the first half of the episode. From next time onwards you should learn the semantics before you get into argument. The fact you call someone "ignorant" for having a simple opinion shows you have issues with respecting opinion as well. Just an advice, stop acting like a salty butthurt fanboy, it does not look good.

One day in the year of the fox came a time remembered well

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

You saw only one episode, and I haven't even started watching it yet, so I was following your argument here with an open mind and unbiased. So let me tell you, you make no sense whatsoever, and also, you are the one who is butthurt and bitter and all your comments are just arrogant, like you are teaching him valuable things. Yeah, the premise is summed up in a line and a half. you can do that with pretty much any movie or show. right? the 'originality' of the premise? really? give me a list of movies with original premise that were never done before. And if you know much about cinema, tv or any form of drama, art, etc, then you should know that the Premise of the work is not all that matters. What matters is how it is dealt with, the approach. You can make a show, a movie, a painting, a poem about just anything, but what sets each one of these works from the other is how the creator(s) approached the subject, or added to the theme (or not)- which is to be judged and evaluated when you have actually seen the work. So your 'point of view' is totally nonsense and has no weight.
Now, go ahead and show us your bitter hurt butt. c'mon. call me names and write me a lengthy reply with a couple of links and "you obviously don't know what #### is" bits.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

Another salty comment really? I never reckoned WW fans to be this arrogant to rebuff opinions as "totally nonsense" and "has no weight". Like I said I DID NOT like the premise of the show, it does not take a genius to see the difference between that and simply claiming the show "bad". Premise is the foundation of a screenplay FYI, if the premise itself fails to attract, the story will definitely not. On top of that you even misinterpreted what I said. Where did I say "originality" of a premise matters? -

"The premise can be gathered within the first half hour of the first episode itself. A western themed amusement park being populated by bio-mechanical androids which then becomes sentient and starts killing the human populace. It's not an original story."

I said the premise of this show is easy to sum-up in just the first episode because it's not exactly an original story. I could not care less if it is original or unoriginal, if I like the premise, I'll fully watch the show. Simple as that. Also, you speak as if you exactly knew how I watched the first episode. I had no knowledge whatsoever about the premise of this show and simply tuned in the first episode (because it's HBO). Then stopped. It's a simple matter of me not liking it. If you find that irksome, it's not my problem, it's yours. Either deal with the fact that some people might not like the premise (or the plot) that you adore or don't. I am not gonna bother justify an opinion to people who simply lack the ability to see that it's a simple opinion.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

You sound like a complete tool. His comment wasn't even nearly as salty as all of your comments. i stopped watching after 1 episode hurr di durr, you just want to fling your worthless opinions in peoples faces on the internet because you're a shy awkward nerd in real life.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

the biggest problem I see with your comments is that by the same token all shows premises are rather uninteresting since everything's been done already.

Game of thrones?
fantasy kings fighting for fantasy thrones, done ad nauseam in fantasy movies/novels etc

Big Bang Theory?
another version of Friends but with geeks

Any crime series
millions of those already

might as well stop watching tv if you want interesting premises.

good shows don't have original premises anymore. it's what you build on those premises that makes them good.

It's your choice, but too bad, you missed out on a great show

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

stopped after 6 or 7. right. more like stopped after the entire season, then coming here for attention. at least you got tits, so youll get your well deserved attention. tittilation ftw

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

To be honest episode 6 is where I lost interest. I kept watching but it was just a countdown to the moment where the hosts take over and kill everybody. The twist and drama in between didn't impress me. I liked the host, hated the human characters. Unlike the shows most obvious predecessor, Dollhouse, this show was completly uninterested in developing the customers, suggesting that maybe there not all bad, that some of them really need this fake reality for deep emotional reasons. All they did was shoot everything, f..k everything and feel unhappy.
The final was great though.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

I see what you mean. Then again, Nolan has said that season 1 is a prequel and that we will get to see much more from the guests perspectives in the seasons ahead. I can see what he means. Next season is gonna take things to a very different level.

Interstellar - Pruit Igoe and Prophecies

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

It was a mistake. The guests would have been much better anchorpoints than the hosts. Following robots in a scripted romance plot just did not seem too interesting to me. It really started getting interesting in the last 3 episodes, when the painfully slow and unnecessarily complicated subplots started to connect and became parts of a big single narrative. Something which might work well in a movie one expects to watch whole, but poison for a show which has to convince people to devide watching it week for week.

Re: Anyone else just stop watching this series?

William wasnt really falling in love with Dolores in a human sense. He seriously noticed she was in a state of change, being a robot and all. And Dolores was always programmed being with him, which he realized in the end. The love stopped as he came back to Sweetwater. William got married, had a kid, had a big life outside the park. Dolores however was programmed and saw the love as still being real.

Too much nudity. Has the handle 'breasts of some unknown person'.
