Westworld : Old Bill

Old Bill

Anyone know how they achieved the jerky robotic movements of Old Bill/Michael Wincott? Was that CGI or just choreographed?

Re: Old Bill

I can't answer that but it looked great.

Re: Old Bill

That's why I'm curious, it looked so realistically fake.

Re: Old Bill

I know what you mean. Maybe fast framing perhaps? I'll ask a DoP I know who's watching the show.

I think it was just fine muscle control on the part of Michael Wincott + sound effects to enhance the illusion :-)

Re: Old Bill

They used CGI to make his movement choppy not fluid. Same technique when the Sheriffs looked as though his face was melting.

Re: Old Bill

you dont need cgi to do that.

its a pretty simple adjusting of the frame speed..
if you turn it up and down in small intervals, this will happen.

Justin timberlake did it in a music video 10 years ago

Re: Old Bill

I just now googled *westworld lady with white shoes* and there is some speculation about this with some thinking that White = a pronunciation of Wyatt. To others it is just harmless banter, based on a popular real-world toast of long ago. To some there's no deeper meaning, others think it might reveal something plot wise or character wise.

Re: Old Bill

Ive heard about that one too, but clearly people are looking too much into it. Subtitles says white. Old Bill is just being poetic about the Woman in the white shoes, takes all your money, steals all your booze. Ain't got a cherry, that ain't no sin. She's still got the box that the cherry come in.

This is my version, written for Carrie Fisher:

Here's to the ladyAll dressed in whiteShe defeated the EmpireBut those curls, what a frightShe never took CommunionCouldn't stand shawlsBut her lightsaber was bluerThan Jabba the Hutt's Balls

Re: Old Bill

haha nice.

But Leia didnt have a lightsaber. Thats why I never liked The Force Awakens. She had that power too. But no signs of it in the movie. Shame!
