Re: My Live Action cast

I dontknow a lot of those actors, but a few things that seemed weird for me Mickey Rourke is waaay to old for this:) He is supposed to be Olivier's younger brother, not grandfather.

I always had an impression that Buccaneer was of Caucasian, not Asian race, and he was quite a huge guy, so Yow Chun Fat does not really do the trick, also Scar and Miles are of the same ethnicity which looks Arabic-like in the terms of our contemporary world, so you cant just randomly throw in an African American actor in.

Lol, Dwayne as Scar, I think he is actually, and unfortunately, the only guy who would be able to fit in this part physically.

So I hope such movie will never come to be:)

Re: My Live Action cast

I love a lot of your choices, but there's a couple I would change. I think Scarlett Johannsen should be Hawkeye. I think Joseph Gordon Levitt would be a better Maes Hughes, and Travis Willingham should be Mustang. Moon Bloodgood is too old to be Maria Ross. She's supposed to be young, early 20's. And I think the perfect Kimbly is Cillian Murphy. Matt Lucas as Gluttony is really cool, but I still like Jack Black better. Stephen Lang as Bradley is BRILLIANT, but I think Sean Bean would be cool too. Lena Hadey could be a great Izumi. I don't like Mickey Rourke as Armstrong. I agree that he's too old. Ellen Page as Sheska might be really really cool. Chloris Leachman is was TOO TALL to play Pinako, lol She's shorter than Ed! wink.gif But I think you're on to something here.

Thinking about a theoretical FMA movie is seriously one of my favorite past-times. biggrin.gif

Re: My Live Action cast

Thought about it, but never composed a complete list.

But since its pure fantasy, lets go for broke: Daniel Day-Lewis as King Bradley. Its PERFECT.

Marcoh - John Hurt
Fu - Minsik Choi (op was obviously a huge fan of BR)
Mustang - Christian Bale
Maes Hughes - Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Those are really the only ones Im certain of.

We all came out of Gogol's Overcoat

Re: My Live Action cast

Huh. Christian Bale is a great fit for Mustang. I never would've thought of that

Re: My Live Action cast

I personally do not think this would translate well into live action. I think it would probably lose a lot of the energy much like Avatar did with The Last Airbender. Which brings up another point, Noah Ringer? Really? After how he put the Ungh in Aang, I would hate to have him be Al.

Re: My Live Action cast

It's hard to translate things like this because they don't have the time to develop the plot to the scale that the series does. In the end, they shorthand certain things and then it just turns into a CGI fest with no real value. It's one of the reasons that books translate better into movies because they have set stopping points along the way.

Edit:

Really only the top billed cast matters

Al - Freddie Highmore
Ed - Zac Efron maybe (getting past his early failures)
Mustang - Christian Bale
Hawkeye - Abbie Cornish
Winry - Emma Roberts maybe
Bradley - Hugo Weaving
Scar - Gerard Butler

Re: My Live Action cast

I always thought Christina Applegate would make the perfect Riza.
And just the other day I was thinking about how Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be perfect for Mustang. He has that same "white but looks asian" look xD
Zac Efron would actually be good for Ed, even though I don't like the moves he's done

Re: My Live Action cast

i really like your updated list. I can really see matthew mcfayden as Mustang - their face is very similar i think. But the perfet Mustang would just be Travis Willingham lol, his personality is just perfect. Not sure about Freeman as Falman though, i love him but Martin's a little short.
Great list overall though!

Re: My Live Action cast

I'm sorry to be such a debby downer but i don't agree with any choices simply because i really don't want a live action! And another thing if i'm not mistaken, did you forget Envy and the other seven deadlies?

Re: My Live Action cast

I agree, there is no way a live action remake of this brilliant anime will ever compare, not with the best CGI or the highest budget. One cannot simply convey the subtle overtones that make this(IMHO) the best anime series i've ever watched. I cannot emphasise how a live version will insult the memory of FMA. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

There is no Justice, there is only me.

Re: My Live Action cast

Agreed completed it's my favorite piece of fiction probably and a live action version isn't even needed. I think that most american's aren't used to this type of story and it would be all wrong. Especially if they cast horrible mainstream actors to bring in crowds.

Re: My Live Action cast

It's debatable, but I've always thought of Roy as being part or full Xingese descent. Those eyes. His hair. His babyface and height. It screams "Asian" at me. But as long as a good actor plays him, I'm willing to accept it. Some of the choices given are a little too old though, (like Christian Bale.) Roy's only 29-30

Loki-Ken Jeong

YES. Haha!

Olivier Mira Armstrong: Angelina Jolie

Uhh noI don't think Jolie has the right form, Olivier is a big girl.

I would say Uma Thurman, but she's probably too old for it as well. Or maybe Hilary Swank? I've never seen her act, but I know that does does very "tough-girl" roles.

Ellen Page as Sheska and Marion Cotillard as Lust.

YES YES YES YES. Ellen Page has the perfect awkward cuteness and Marion's already got the sultry sexy voice down.

Also, I think Rhys Ifans would make a great Hohenheim. Cillian Murphy is a great choice for Kimbly! He's just good at crazy characters. And maybe Mia Wasikowska as Riza? I also think Tom Hiddleston would make a good Havoc.

Random, but I've never seen George Clooney act, (hope to soon,) but his face looks exactly how I'd imagine King Bradley. He's quite fit, too.

Re: My Live Action cast

Here is my Cast:

I don't think a live action film alone would do the series justice. It would have to be a TV series done by HBO or Showtime (think Game of Thrones kind of deal) in order to all the story to get told. However, most of my cast are more film actors than tv. Oh well, this is all in my head anyway.

I think the Elric Brothers and some cast members should be new fresh faces, but a lot of the supporting cast can be vets.

Re: My Live Action cast

I love your choice for Winry. yes.gif

I'd like (not a very big list. I'm kind of limited when it comes to actors and actresses):

Roy Mustang - Matt Cohen or Misha Collins
Riza Hawkeye - Alona Tal
Jean Havoc - Mike Vogel
Lust - Liz Gillies
Olivier Armstrong - Kristin Bauer

I was gonna list more, but my sister's been replaying the same movie for 3 days, and it making my brain malfunction, so

Cigarettes, Robitussin. Will I ever get to Heaven? It's not looking good now.

Re: My Live Action cast

You know, Misha Collins would actually work for Roy, IF Misha can pull of a more badass voice and aura. But other than that, he does look similar to Roy in many respects (dark hair, babyface, not extremely tall, etc.). Plus, Misha's role as a certain angel in Supernatural is AWESOME. For those who don't know what character I mean, watch the show for yourselves and find out ;) I won't spoil anything.

Re: My Live Action cast

i really like these lists! and honestly for my perfect casting i would mix and match from most of the actors you have all suggested.

but i think van Hohenheim should be played with out a doubt by Liam Neeson not only does the character have many of the traits that Neeson is often cast for, but he looks just like the guy!

Re: My Live Action cast

I think it can work under the right hands. After all, nobody thought "Lord of the Rings" would work, but Peter Jackson proved us wrong. Look at "Harry Potter" and LOTR. You honestly think this of all franchises is unadaptable?

Ed- Vincent Martella (With his comedic roles such as Greg from "Everybody Hates Chris" and his angst as Hope from "Final Fantasy XIII," its a good combo for Ed).
Al- Zachary Gordon. For the older version, just for *beep* and giggles, have Aaron Dismuke reprise his role.
Winry- Either Emily Osment (who can turn a pretty dramatic performance in the ohterwise mediocre "Cyberbully") or Chloe Moretz (do I have to explain it?).
Mustang- David Tennant (I can't believe nobody has suggested this yet).
Hawkeye- Mila Juvovich.
Hughes- Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Armstrong- Lou Ferrigno.
Father/Hoenheim- Rhys Ifans.
Bradley- Hugo Weaving.
Selim- Noah Ringer (maybe as Pride since he has that monotone. It's like casting Keanu Reeves as the Terminator).
Lust- Helena Bonham Carter.
Envy- Jaye Davidson (watch both "The Crying Game" and "Stargate" to know why).
Gluttony- Andy Serkis (if they can't find an actor fat enough).
Greed- Topher Grace (based on his performance in "Spiderman 3." He had that smug look Greed had. Also, I felt like his transformation was inspired by the Venom Symbiote).
Sloth- CGI, voiced by Patrick Seitz.
Shou Tucker- Jeffrey Combs.
Kimblee- Either Cillian Murphy or Christian Bale (for his role as Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho).

Re: My Live Action cast

Don't agree about Helena Bonham Carter as Lust. You need some hot and sexy to lust over.Hence the name Lust.Brooklyn Decker,Scarlett Johansson or Eva Green Can be Great as Lust.

Based on the movie Dark ShadowsI see Lust more like Eva Green now.

I'm the Corruptor.

Re: My Live Action cast

Daniel Day-Lewis would make a perfect Wrath!

You have the right to remain silent because whatever you say will probably be stupid anyway!

Re: My Live Action cast

but i think van Hohenheim should be played with out a doubt by Liam Neeson not only does the character have many of the traits that Neeson is often cast for, but he looks just like the guy!

That's true. He does look like him.

You have the right to remain silent because whatever you say will probably be stupid anyway!

Re: My Live Action cast

A few I forgot to add.

Scar- Either Dwayne Johnson, Danny Trejo, or Mickey Rourke.
Olivier- Kate Beckinsale.
Buccaneer- Ken Watanabe.
Miles- Dev Patel.
Havoc- Chris Evans.
Fuery- Johnny Galecki.
Falman- Hugh Laurie.
Breda- Either Jonah Hill or Ethan Suplee.
Ling Yao- Aaron Yoo.
Lan Fan- Ellen Wong.
Fu- Cary Tagawa.
May- Wenwen Han.
Sheska- Linda Cardellini.
Father Cornello- Either Patrick Stewart or Brian Blessed.

Re: My Live Action cast

Re: My Live Action cast

there's some good choices (even i not knowing a lot of them) but i would change that:

King Bradley: Daniel Day-Lewis
Roy Mustang: Daniel Bruhl
First Greed: Van Damme (like the caracther in expendables 2, baddass)
Olivier Armstrong: Diane Krueger
Scar: Vinnie Jones
Kimblee: Michael Pitt
Riza Hawkey: Olivia Wilde
Alex Louis Armstrong: Russell Crowe?? hauhauhau >> http://www.google.com.br/imgres?imgurl=http://caras.uol.com.br/media/images/large/2012/10/17/img-441448-russell-crowe-aparece-mais-forte-durante-filmagens-de-noah-s.jpg&imgrefurl=http://caras.uol.com.br/data/natal-e-ano-novo-2012/post/russell-crowe-apos-separacao-minha-prioridade-e-tentar-reunir-familia&h=576&w=433&sz=29&tbnid=FD8rB6QlIAi6FM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=68&zoom=1&usg=__JbdudT9k8_b1YZc3Kh3l3A_azIQ=&docid=T21VU9EzN239YM&sa=X&ei=z-fQUMi4DvS80QGyy4DoAw&ved=0CFUQ9QEwBQ&dur=4823

i love the idea of Sean Bean as Honheheim and Tatsuya Fujiwara as Ling, fit perfectly

Re: My Live Action cast

I could see Claudia Black as Lust,

Re: My Live Action cast

M Night Shyamalan as director.
He would make alchemy from looking amazing to something like this:

A pure genious, critics just don't get him eyes.gif

Re: My Live Action cast

Daniel Day Lewis is the only acceptable casting choice for Fuhrer King Bradley.

Re: My Live Action cast

Cast Edited.

Re: My Live Action cast

Olivier Mira Armstrong should be a beautiful blonde with the a perfect athletic physique, not that ugly Anna Gunn.

Re: My Live Action cast

Bump.

Re: My Live Action cast

Sean Bean is not a bad choice,I Also thought Brad Pitt or Liam Neeson

I would want Ed to be played by Short 15-18 year old and Al by a child like in the first series.
Dub.
A lot of these characters are hard to cast IMO but I will try

I thought Roy and Izumi looked Asian
For Roy I was thinking John Cho/Harry Shum JR./Mike Moh
Izumi - Lucy Liu

Hawkeye - Kathryn Winnick

Armstrong - There is Kevin Durand and Corey Stoll
And his sis should be Katee Sackhoff

Hughs - I was thinking Jim Carey he might be a little old though

Ross - Cobie Smulders

Bradley - Hmmm I think my favorite choice is Javier Bardem he has the look and is great at playing villians

Scar and Rose are meant to be Indian or Middle Eastern?
Idk about Scar but for Rose Namoi Scott? She's Indian

I might come back I get more Ideas like I said some are hard to cast
