Westworld : the outlaw and the whore

the outlaw and the whore

Make a nice pair.

Although her being so completely sure that none of what happens matters just cause of some fragmented memories and a bullet she can't explain seems rather extreme leap of faith

Re: the outlaw and the whore

There's also the drawings she realized she's drawn herself and hidden in the floor boards numerous times, the totem the Indian child dropped that she picked up, the waking up on the table while the techs fix her up, and the message Delores whispered in her ear that triggered something in her mind.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

It all makes perfect sense.

She has vague memories of dying and of being healed by the hazmat suit men.

She thinks these have just been nightmares until she sees the indian child drop a hazmat suit doll. Then she knows that this isn't just a product of her imagination. And because she now believes the hazmat suit men are real and that they will wipe her memory when they come for her, she draws one on a piece of paper, so will remember all of this when she comes back. But when she removes the floorboard she sees numerous similar drawings. This proves to her that she already had these same ideas before and that her memories have obviously been wiped, because she doesn't remember the drawings from before.

So this implies that her suspicions are true: when she dies, the hazmat suit men WILL pick her up and they WILL wipe her memory and they WILL heal all her injuries.

Which of course means that she is not crazy after all and that none of this matters.

Any questions?

Re: the outlaw and the whore

The one thing that doesn't add up about the whole event are all those drawings in the floor. With how the techs keep constant watch on everything, they would have seen her stash at least a few of those drawings and would know to check that spot during each reset and remove the stuff. And given that she has already been seen to go off her script several times they would be paying special attention to her now and would know about her hiding the pictures. That is unless of course Ford wants her to find out and so is keeping the techs from interfering.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

I think a more obvious sign of something being wrong is the natives' "religion" if Ford didn't support/invent it, it certainly wouldn't be allowed.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

Also, it's possible that the hosts are being watched only when paying customers are nearby or when they stray out of their designated area

Re: the outlaw and the whore

Bernard is running interference, too. He complained to Ford that there was something he wasn't telling him about the upgrades. He warns Delores not to share their conversations. 'I'm not the only one making these decisions'. And I can't quite recall, but wasn't it Bernard who personally prevented Maeve from being decommissioned?

No, it was Elsie who prevented Maeve from being decommissioned.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

Ahh yes, you're right.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

The techs don't watch every host every minute, she could well have time to sketch and hide the papers each time.

Re: the outlaw and the whore

Great chemistry!

Re: the outlaw and the whore

They did have a fiery chemistry as opposed to very sweet one between Dolores and Billy

Re: the outlaw and the whore

I quite agree: the chemistry with Hector and Maeve is awesome! Equally awesome was Maeve's discovery and the proofwonder what this leads to?

Can't wait to see how Hector and Maeve use this information.

Thandie Newton is amazing on this show, and it is a show with a ton of great performances! Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Hopkins truly shine alsothat scene with Ford and Theresa was ominious as heck!! Lectoresque, lol!

Re: the outlaw and the whore

The cast is so wonderful here, everyone delivers great work but Ed Harris is my favorite so far - that character really suits him. That said the level of nuance in Evan's performance is incredible
