Ghostbusters : Louis Tully's party

Louis Tully's party

At Louis's party, when the new couple arrive, he introduces them with some very personal and pretty grim financial information. I never noticed that until now.

Re: Louis Tully's party

but they're okay!

yeah, i noticed that too. i have been watching this movie since my childhood [was about 8 when it came out] and even back then i was like ---eh???

but that, i guess, shows you what kind of a twit Louis is and why Dana is almost aching to get away from him whenever he shows up. notice when she comes home on the night of the party how he desperately tries to sneak past his door.

i also thought it was a little douche for him to have a party for all his clients so he can write it off on taxes. really???

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

Re: Louis Tully's party

Louis doesn't really strike me as the kind of person to have too many friends.

Let's be bad guys.

Re: Louis Tully's party

Hey everybody, this is Ben and Sheila. Ben has a dry cleaning business in receivership...

Re: Louis Tully's party

I thought the whole gag was to support him having the party for "business" purposes so he could expense it.

Back off, man; I support the reboot.

Re: Louis Tully's party

Hey, this is real smoked salmon from Nova Scotia, Canada, $24.95 a pound! It only cost me $14.12 after tax, though. I'm givin' this whole thing as a promotional expense, that's why I invited clients instead of friends. You havin' a good time, Mark?

He was my C.O. in Nam. CIA listed him as MIA but the V.A. ID'd his M.O. and put out an APB.

Re: Louis Tully's party

HEY ITS TED AND ANNETTE!! that always cracks me up.

something else I noticed that was funny was this random decoration which is just a metal sign that says ETC. HAHAHa

Re: Louis Tully's party

I think someone else on a tv show in the 80's had it, too. maybe another one, too.

whenever I saw it I would be like: hey! just like Louis!

Re: Louis Tully's party

The oldest son in Mr. Belvedere had it.

Re: Louis Tully's party

That was a fairly common wall decoration for the time.

I never understood what he meant by that.

Re: Louis Tully's party

He either bought it close to the expiration date and marked down significantly or he just didn't buy a full pound and thought he got a good deal.

Re: Louis Tully's party

erm... even as a child I pieced together that he was giving this party for his clients -- therefore all things are business expenses and can be written off from his taxes.

Re: Louis Tully's party

I think he means that he got a deal on it. He's bragging about the real cost but also bragging that he got a deal.

Like somebody talking about a car, "The invoice on this baby is $56,000 but when I got through talking to the salesman I was out the door for $49,999." He's Louis Tully damn it. Everything is numbers. He tapes 20 minute work out and plays it back at 2x speed.

Re: Louis Tully's party

One of my favorite scenes in the movie. Rick Moranis was a genius.

Re: Louis Tully's party

he's all biz.

Re: Louis Tully's party

Anyone notice Louis had a wall decoration that said "etc"? You can still buy them in stores.

Re: Louis Tully's party

classy.

Re: Louis Tully's party

Louis was such a dork, lol. Even though outgoing, he seemed seriously socially awkward and didn't know how to talk to people. Didn't strike me as the type of guy to have many friends. His character was probably based on stereotypes of nerds back then.

Re: Louis Tully's party

The young blonde woman dancing with Louis was very attractive and certainly appeared to be out of place. However, Louis was able to convince her to come. Maybe she likes nerdy men.

Re: Louis Tully's party

That was Casey Kasem's wife. Well done Casey.
