Confessions of a Shopaholic : SHE OWES 16 THOUSAND, 12 HUNDRED?
Re: SHE OWES 16 THOUSAND, 12 HUNDRED?
My wife caught that too when we watched it. Do the writers just suck at math you think?
Re: SHE OWES 16 THOUSAND, 12 HUNDRED?
I noticed that too, but she was also supposed to be drunk at that point of the movie.
Re: SHE OWES 16 THOUSAND, 12 HUNDRED?
Whoever wrote the script was not good at math. When she is first buying the scarf the sales lady says it's $120. Becca gives $50 cash, she put $30 on a card, $10 on another card and $20 on another card. That adds up to $110, which means she was short $10 and yet she was begging the hot dog guy for $20.

The scarf isn't just 120 bucks, it's $120 plus tax.

"The scarf isn't just 120 bucks, it's $120 plus tax."
except that when salespeople tell customers how much they have to pay, they include the tax in the total they don't say "it's 120 plus tax of 8.375%". They give the total if she's told 120 out on the sales floor, it would be before tax, but at the counter it is the total. So no, that's not the answer.
maybe she wanted lunch money too.

This is listed in the Goofs:
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Suze and Rebecca are going over credit card statements, Suze asks Rebecca how will pay off "16 thousand, TWELVE hundred, 62 dollars, and 72 cents" without a job.
