Beaches : Give me a break

I haven't seen it (but did watch the trailer) and before you bash me for judging let me explain. I don't need to see this movie. Beaches, while not the greatest movie of all time was a very sweet, sad and beautiful story about friendship. It had great performances by Middler, Hershey and the cutest little Mayim Biyalik.

So what exactly can be gained by remaking this story? Why is this necessary? I'm sure there are a billion people out there who write original stories, screenplayswho would love the chance to have their stuff seen. So why remake something?

That's not a real question. I know why they do it; clearly to cash in on the title and the audience who saw original and use the name to market this.

It of course like nearly 100% of remakes will be of inferior quality and unnecessarily compromise the integrity of the original.

I totally agree with you. Why did they make this? I love the original. What was the point?

Never seen the original nor have I ever cared to. I will watch this remake. Why? I've adored Idina Menzel since 2007 and Nia Long is really attractive.

So yeah.
