The first film made over half a billion dollars on a $40 million dollar investment. Each of the new films were made for less. If they follow the trajectory of the Twilight films, each of the final two should make more money than the original.

And they have been a lot of photos from the sets and all the info coming outwe saw very little of 50 Shades filmingmostly fans with their I phones..I think they wised up after the amazing box office results of the first film..

We saw lots of filming pics from the first one, big spoilery ones too i might add, whenever there are outside scenes pics were took!

You assume there are more pics being taken because the franchise is mega famous now, that's not the reason, its just because all the outside scenes of Darker and Freed are being shot together and they outnumber the first one is all!

Yeah, they took some many pictures of them filming. People who haven't read the book basically saw the whole movie in the posts (except for the sex scenes).

At this point I don't care if it flops or not, I just want them to tone down the abuse, stalking and creepiness. Jamie was really bad in the first movie so I hope he tries to put a little more in the second movie.

I hope they don't make "Grey" into a movie.

I won't give my money to the film. Many people walked out of the first one and I read several articles about why people should boycott.

If people were ruled by logic that would be the case. However, Transformers and Twilight and Ice Age suggest otherwise.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

True, movies that suck often do well at the box office due to audiences that don't know any better. And certainly FSD will no doubt suck, just like FSog, but you'll always have people like isundling who will go to it five times and try to defend it! So for sure, this movie (unfortunately) will probably do pretty well.

It goes to show the stupidity of modern movie audiences!

Isundling, first of all, those movies are "too violent"? That's *beep* stupid! Casino was overwrought but Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and Taxi Driver are classics.

But how illogical is it that you love a great movie like The Age of Innocence and yet, amazingly, also love a laughably senseless series like FSoGone of the absolute god-awful collection of books imaginable.

Sorry didn't say they were not classicsbut the violence I can't take..as far as loving AoIlove the characters..story..and the care that MS takes with the score..the costumes..the sets..he got more sex out of those lingering glances..taking off her glove..kissing her wrist..that all of 50 Shades..or any other "let it all hang out" sexy movie.

And I am just a sucker for Edwardian/Regency romancesloved all of Downton Abby, Outlander, and throw in Game of Thrones for good measure..and my Mama always said.."be interested in all things" not just good or bad..so I am.

I agree with you, Gadget. I couldn't even get through the first installment. It's offensive to women and puts unrealistic expectations for men.

I could understand the Twilight thing, and even though this series started out as twilight fan fiction atleast Twilight is not encouraging abuse, sadistic torture, or rape of women.

BDSM is not even like this series portrays, the sub is the person really in control and theres a set of rules each person follows as "safety is vitial" for that kind of sex play. I know this due to having friends who practice BDSM and they HATE the "Fifty Shades" series for how it shows a very false and sick portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle.

Christian Grey just likes beating the crap out of women and raping them cause he is a product of abuse who continues the cycle.

I read the books and I can't remember where Christian rapes anyone. Can you tell me where? Isn't rape where the victim doesn't want what's happening and can't escape when they want to?

The orgasm denial in book 3 maybe? I guess it is concerned more sexual assault than rape maybe but he definitely did not gain her consent for that. They never did that before either. She never consented to that at all but he did it and didn't apologize very well for it. He only stopped when she was crying really. I like some aspects of the story but this for me was really bad on his part. He definitely is really immature due to the abuse he was succumbed too but with her obvious discomfort it took him a long time to stop. He still had some much to learn.

It'll do like the first one. A rush in the first three weeks then it'll quietly go to Amazon, DVD, streaming, where people will watch it at home so as not to be seen in the theater laughing or wincing or cringing or, wait for it, sleeping.

He rapes her four times in the first book alone.

The first rape is just out and out physical assault. He breaks into her apartment thinking she dumped him by email. He's angry, ties her up, spanks her, and has sex with her even though she says no several times. The entire time leading up to it, she's looking frantically around her room for an escape route because she's terrified of him. He threatens to tie her legs open and gag her if she screams. Then, EL James tries to convince us that it's all okay because Ana's email was just a joke, she didn't really dump him, so it's fine. Except that he didn't know that it was a joke and says that he thought she was serious about never wanting to see him again afterward. Oh and we're also basically told that since she had an orgasm it couldn't be rape which is vile BS. She even curses her body for "betraying her" by climaxing, which to me is a glaring sign that she did not want this to happen. No rape victim can control how their body responds to physical stimulation. Involuntary physiological response doesn't not equal consent. This happens a lot in these books. He wants to do something she doesn't but since she eventually orgasms somehow it's okay that he violates her wishes, boundaries, and bodily autonomy. (The movie whitewashes this scene by having him ask if she consents and she says yes but by then he's already broken into her apartment and tied her up so it would be reasonable for her to be too afraid to refuse and this conversation doesn't happen in the book, he just does it.) Consent doesn't mean getting someone to say yes even if you have to manipulate and intimidate them into doing so. Consent is only valid if you've given them no reason to fear refusing. This assault would be a class A felony in the real world.

The second rape happens after he intentionally gets her insanely drunk while he remains deliberately sober so he can get her to do whatever he wants. He's sober, she's drunk, and he's been manipulating and threatening her all evening. That's a class A felony.

The third rape happens shortly after the second, on the same night. She does something that angers him. He hits her and rapes her. At no point did they discuss and nor did she agree to doing this as a BDSM scene. He just hits her and has rough sex with her without asking because he's angry at her for "disrespecting him". She still hasn't signed the contract at this point and even if she had, she still retains the legal right to refuse anything but she's been manipulated into thinking she doesn't have that right. Class A felony.

The fourth time he rapes her happens at his parent's house. He picks her up, throws her over his shoulder, and drags her to their boathouse. Once there, he tells her that he's gonna spank her and have sex with her to punish her for considering going to visit her mother without his permission and for refusing to let him finger her vagina under the dinner table while his parents and siblings were right there. She begs him not to hit her and he agrees not to but has rough sex with her and threatens that if she orgasms, he will hit her whether she likes it or not. That's forcible compulsion; as she agreed to not fight the sex solely to avoid a beating and told him so. Rape by duress via threats of violence is class C felony.

None of these incidents have anything to do with BDSM and she doesn't agree to these things beforehand. He just rapes her when he's mad, sometimes hitting her too. I say hit because that's what she calls it in her internal monologue. Not spanked or playing but hit, assaulted, beaten. Those are the words she uses to describe when he hits her. The only two times she refers to them as spankings are when she asks him to spank her. When he initiates it, she hates it and thinks of it as a beating.

brian 007 is correct. by all logic, a piece of crap like the force awakens would have bombed, it being nothing more then a complete ripoff/remake of the original, wrongly marketed as a sequel when its sctually a REBOOT. in a perfect world, fans would be outraged and walk away foaming at the mouth saying things like RIPOFF REMAKE OF THE ORIGINAL HOW DARE THEY!! but no, it makes a billion dollars because sheeple don't know any better.

I am pretty sure that the consensus is that the Force Awakens was exciting when it came out and there was a positive reception because it wasn't a total failure. There were redeeming factors and after the catastrophe of the prequels people were relieved there were no characters like Jar Jar or child Anakin.

I think most people can agree that it was not very good at all and you really do summarize my main problems with it too, also my suspension of disbelief by the end of the movie had been stretched past any level of credulity. A lot of web critics and reviewers have in hindsight expressed their disappointment in the film as well.

I wouldn't say people don't know better, it's simply that we know worse and are relieved when we get tolerable.

It was still better than Rogue One by the way and the only reason I say that is because everyone in Rogue One seemed like they would rather be doing something else, including the screenwriters, actors, director and composer. What a bunch or derivative drivel that was.

I would suggest boycotting Star Wars in the future and waiting for the DVD release to watch but then again I feel you can't really enjoy a movie like Star Wars unless you see it on the big screen.

It's simply that the type of people who like those three franchises and drive their success aren't the same type of people to come and rate them online.

twilight was bad and people still flocked to those sequels. the valentine's day weekend is also a goldmine for opening weekend. i didn't like the first movie but the marketing is good and i think fans will still eat it up

if it flops is because of the damm awful trailer, the first movie was terrible but the trailer was soooo good, it still is, they should of kept that marketing thing, they made the film.

From the trailer, the second one looks way more interesting than the first one.
Plus now there's a new director. *thank god because the first one was awful and too awkward. Clearly the director didn't know how to handle a movie like this.*

I totally agree with you. When I watched the trailer for the first movie the acting looked so bad, so stilted and awkward that I just choked. Didn't watch it until it was free. What were they thinking when they hired a director who had only ever directed a documentary?? I also didn't like the way Jamie and Dakota looked. They've tamed his hair and made his five o'clock shadow scruffier, and she seems sort of prettier, which makes me happy. This movie looks like it'll be more interesting, and the acting may be better because of the new director. Still looks a bit stilted, but I see an improvement.

I agree. Unless they can pull something out of the box that no one has seen before, it will do well at first then drop. It still will make a load of money and should do better in the review department, but I don't expect it to be a darling of critics.

There is no way this film will flop. The book made publishing history and enough people liked the first film to return to the second. Still, unless the filmmakers pull something remarkable off, I think the box office will drop the second week. Still, Darker, which has a smaller budget than Fifty Shades of Grey, will make boatloads of money. I think some critics might actually give it a pass too.

At least she attempted to thicken the plot more in the second book. The trailer makes it appear more of a romantic drama than anything. However, just because a trailer is good doesn't really mean that the movie is. I guess it's a wait and see kind of movie. I dont know how much influence James had this time around but she really should let directors do what they know best.
