John Wick: Chapter 2 : Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
I just remember a dumb joke.
"See you soon"
"Not if I see you first"
"See you soon"
"Not if I see you first"
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
Cassian said he was going to get him. She had been listening and told John it wasn't Cassian that was going to get him but her.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
That can't be the case, because she signed "Not him. You." , which would not make sense, because she would have to have signed "Not him. Me."
She referred to John, not to herself.
She referred to John, not to herself.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
I got to see it again. I thought it did show "Not him. Me." then.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
It did say "Not him, me." My interpretation of that was, that she wanted to take a moment to bond with him over a drink, saying she's there for her, not as an extension of Santino.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
Gosh, I'd love to see a transcript of the entire bar scene now, because you may be right, but I'm not sure the order was right in the conversation they were having.
I think it was
Girl : "Having a rough night?"
John : something about 'you could say that"
Girl : "Can I buy you a drink?"
John : looks at drink, stands up "No.Thanks"
John may have followed already while walking "I'll see you later"
Girl : "Not him, me. I'll be seeing you"
John : "Not if I see you first."
Is this close?

Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
to me, the overall vibe was that she wanted an off-duty moment with John, like she'd have sex wit him and then try to kill him later for her boss. but that's in keeping with the whole JW universe. the assassins always ask each other if they're working. it reminds me of that looney toons cartoon with the dog and the fox who greet each other before their shifts, during which the fox tries to steal the sheep and teh dog protects the sheep by beating up the fox.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
It might have been that. I'm not sure either anymore, I just remember being confused by it because it wasn't a response to what John just said.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
She was choosing which one was gonna tap that ass later.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
She was clearly saying that she'd be the one to kill him not Cassian.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
But the context of the conversation was not leading into, or talking about her killing him. She asked about getting him a drink, he declined. And Cassian was no longer there, nor did John bring him up in order for her to refer to Cassian.
Re: Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
She was shorthanding. After Cassian left, she offered the drink, he turned her down. Then she said what she came there to say. Not him ( the recently departed Cassian), me. I'm going to be the one to kill you.
Confused about dialogue in bar scene (SPOILERS?)
"Not him. You."
With something after it.
I was completely confused by that sentence, because it seemed like they were having different conversations.
Does anyone remember exactly what was written on the screen? Maybe I misread something, but on the fly I didn't get it.
