You could say that the people on the plane saw the "video" since it came on each of the seat-back screens. It also was on the screens in the cockpit.
But, the beginning was trying to be shocking. It kind of reminded me of any of the Final Destination movies.

It's like she had no choice because he was on the plane so she forced them to watch the tape so she can kill all of them at once

At no point was it ever stated that the rest of the plane "watched" the tape. The monitors literally showed ONE frame, of the well. That is all.
The pilots clearly lost control of the plane because Samara was *beep* with the electrical system in order to come out of the monitor.

It was just *beep* luck for the passengers. Samara screwed with the plane systems which caused it too crash.

in the beginning it didnt make sense, but Samara is so evil so if killing 160 other people also gets her 7th day vic so be it. Collateral damage. They could have re-written the Noah scene into the plane having Samara target only him trapping him in his seat. Then as he freaks out, Samara advances on him, his face contorts into the Katie closet face in front of the two girls that were chatting him up about the tape earlier.

Clearly they ran out of budget xd
Otherwise they would show us how the pilots suffer from the effects of samara (The Bugs)
I'm would have shown Samara as teleporting without the need to get her hand across the mini-screen which made it ridiculous
(Example: When Samara teleports without having to leave the screen in Rings 2005)
It was epic and frightening until I was more scared than the new movie xD

According to where Gabriel found the vhs of a guy that was on a plane that crashed 2 years before. Thats not typical Samara to kill ANYONE who hasnt seen the tape, yet she basically killed a whole plane load of people I imagine who hadnt watched it. Even in the first two shed kill one person in the house but not the other. Also was that plane scene thought out to be a cool ONE UPPING THE LAST sequel movebecause it wasnt
