CLOSED Movies about show business has-beens

OK, I've got more movies than I can handle, so unless you know one that really fits the bill, I think I'm good, thanks.

I was rewatching This Is Spinal Tap, which has some gags poking fun at how they were on the decline. For example:
"They're currently residing in the 'Where Are They Now?' file."
"The idea is if we can get it on, then we get it over with."

I'm looking for movies that deal with show business performers on the decline, but which are serious. Here's what I've got so far:

The Artist
Birdman
Black Swan
Clouds Of Sils Maria (2014)
The Comic
The Country Girl (1954)
Day for Night
Day Out of Days
The Dresser (1983)
The Dresser (2015)
The Entertainer (1960)
The Fisher King (1991)
Gods and Monsters
Goodbye, Dragon Inn
Lenny (1974)
Limelight (1952)
Maps to the Stars
Mommie Dearest
Mr. Saturday Night
My Favorite Year (1982)
The Star
A Star Is Born
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
20th Century (1934)
Where the Truth Lies (2005)
Venus (2006)
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
The Wrestler (2008)

Ideally the movies would be made after 1980 and set in the present day.

Are there any other serious movies which deal with has-beens in show business?

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. Mr. Saturday Night

- The Wrestler (2008)
- Clouds Of Sils Maria (2014) - possibly; not seen myself
- Limelight (1952)

@yurenchu I've seen The Wrestler - yes, that's exactly the sort of movie I'm after. Thank you for the other two recommendations.

You're welcome, smoko! I hope you'll enjoy the other titles.

@Flosive I just watched the trailer for 1983's The Dresser - did you know that there was a 2015 remake, and that they both got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes? I'm interested in watching the remake.

Sunset Blvd is a famous movie, I'll definitely need to check that one out. I've seen The Fisher King. Thank you for the recommendations.

Birdman if that's not too comic for you.

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

@filmmagnet I avoided Birdman when it came out as I heard it was very arty and dull, but I loved The Revenant so I'll give it a look. Thank you.

The Country Girl (1954) Bing Crosby plays an alcoholic performer trying to make a comeback.

"Barney Sloane…That's my new name…My old one's a little more Italian."

@CanterburyTale OK, thank you.

The Comic
A Star Is Born
The 20th Century

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

@NewtonFigg The Comic looks very interesting, thank you.

@Flosive I like Dustin Hoffman, so this is something I think I'd enjoy, thank you.

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

Venus (2006)
Where the Truth Lies (2005)

Very good film, with a lot of bittersweet serious moments, but overall a comedy:
My Favorite Year

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

@tim-xy I like Peter O'Toole in his prime, so My Favorite Year could be great for me (but I'll skip Venus). Thank you.

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

The Entertainer (1960) - Laurence Olivier

I already have enough weird friends as it is.

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

@Denny_the_Dinosaur I've avoided this movie because it's an old movie, but I'm more open to watching it now. I'll give it a go, thank you.

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

present day:
Maps to the Stars

past:
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Mommie Dearest

I haven't seen:
Day Out of Days
The Star
Day for Night

tangentially related:
Black Swan - one of the characters is a ballerina past her prime
Gods and Monsters - set in 1950s, and really more about retirement rather than just on the decline of a career
Goodbye, Dragon Inn - the has-been is a movie theatre

Re: Movies about show business has-beens, eg. The Artist, Mr. Saturday N

@eolloe I've seen Black Swan; I might watch Mommie Dearest simply because it's so infamous. Thank you.
