The Hateful Eight : how did roth get the hangman papers?

roth is assuming the identity of the hangman but how did he get the papers when shane asked for them?




still gotta say the exchange when roth is asking shane to see the lincoln letter makes me laugh every single time! can i see the lincoln letter? the lincoln what? all the way to the N-r in the barn has a letter from president lincoln?

#1 we dont see it on screen

#2 thats a pretty risky role to be playing since they know the kurt russell always brings his clients to the hangman. wouldn't it make sense that kurt knows the hangman in the town?


#3 also risky seeing how the actual new sheriff of the town is traveling with them?


why expose himself that much?

It's suggested that hangmen move around a bit by Mobrey and they didn't know that Mannix would be travelling with Ruth.

still a huge risk that wasn't needed to be taken. esp when staging the hit at a LOCAL gathering hole.

I don't think it is all that local. Don't they refer to it being 'halfway' from where Ruth and O.B. pick up Jackson's character?

They all had their roles preplanned. The Mexican was running the place for Minnie. Madsen was going to see his mom after a cattle drive. Roth was the hangman. Why couldn't he have written the papers himself? They knew what they were going there for. He had time.


A coward hides behind freedom. A brave person stands in front of it & defends it for others.

That doesn't explain how Oswaldo had the papers to hang the guy in Red Rock that Mannix asked for.

To take this one step further it doesn't explain why he would even risk mentioning he's the hangman esp when he's the new sheriff in the town

He also had the Hangman's calling cards. I assume he killed the real Hangman and purloined the documents - cards, warrants etc.
