OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

Today, 13 January 2017, is:

—Friday the 13th (in the PST Time Zone still Thursday the 12th for less than an hour).

—The Ides of January (Remember what happened on the Ides of March).

—Saint HILARY (of Poitiers).

—There is a Full Moon in LEO.

—For The Vikings, it's Midvintersblót or Tiugunde Day.

Just informing. people who might be unaware of it and then might complain and say "If someone had told me about all this before! I didn't buy any gift for Hilary and the Vikings, and I understand now why the lion, the dog, the cat, Freddy and the children were so nervous this morning!!"

This is an interesting read. I think he deserves a respectful biopic in the vein of A Man For All Seasons. Arianism remains a threat to the church, perhaps more than remarriage.

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

I read it. Yes, interesting. Honestly, I didn't know much about him, but I always remembered that 13 January (14 in special cases) is his day, the Ides of January.

I know more about Arianism because I studied it and I also happen to be very interested in the Visigoths, I even learned some words of their now extinct language, thanks to Bishop Ulfilas.

Is remarriage a threat? And what church do you refer to? The Roman Catholic, I take.

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

I was contrasting with the theme (or one of the components) of A Man For All Seasons, an offhand comment really but meaning two principled men against windmills and such.

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

Ok, then here is a quote from that film I like very much:

Margaret More: Father, that man's bad.

Sir Thomas More: There's no law against that.

William Roper: There is: God's law.

Sir Thomas More: Then God can arrest him.

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

Were there actual policemen at that time, though, or did the army take care of that?

Hmmm... to play chess with you would be a curious experience, Henrey.

Was served pea soup for both lunch and dinner on the day the death of William Peter Blatty is announced.

🎭All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

I wish I could say "May he rest in peace', as I always do, but considering his filmography, I doubt he can...

Today we too ate peas for lunch!! (but independented peas, not in a soup). I Hope yours were good and didn't end up like this:

What about some nice and succulent spinachs for tomorrow?

Was she (or he) nervous? (Remember the Full Moon in Leo)

Re: OT: Today, Friday the 13th, and other omens, good or bad

No, she was safe - as she is everyday because I do not let her roam free out-of-doors ever.

I had a Siamese cat, and later her son as well, and I too had to protect them from the dangers of the outside world, especially dogs and cars.
