Narcos : Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

She was a good, church-going, Christian woman who wanted nothing more out of life than to do God's work. To see her suffer the tragic fate of outliving her son brought me to tears.

Re: Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

She was her mother and the love for her son made her blind. I think the production did a great job in adding the scenes while she was talking about the good things he did, that may help me to not feel sorry for her

Re: Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

Pablo's mom chose to be blind to the ruthlessness of Pablo. He was a murderer and drug trafficker....and she knew it.

Re: Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

Quite the opposite here. I found her to be quite arrogant and irritating. I was more sympathetic towards Tata.

I also didn't care for the casting of her character. She looked and acted fake; more like Mrs. Doubtfire than an actual senior woman.

Agree. No matter how I try, I just can't hate Tata. I think it's the actress. She just comes across so childlike. Also learning that she was 13 when Pablo got with her makes me sympathize with her too. The mom telling Tata that story about stealing Pablo some shoes and they take whatever they want just solidified for me where Pablo learned his sense of entitlement.

Re: Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

I had zero sympathy for her, she knew what Pablo was up to and her real-life speech at the end of the series was the typical "my son did no wrong!" you often hear when violent criminals are brought to justice. I actually had a good laugh at her the way the director expertly depicted this.

Re: Anyone else feel bad for Pablo's mom?

Not really, I don't think too may people were sympathetic to the portrayal of the mother (let alone cry for her...).

(a) She was portrayed as stubborn and naive to Pablo's nature; having been blinded by her love for him;
- it was implied that her decision to go to the Christmas mass was responsible for the family being tracked down and the death of Tata's brother. She continued to be unrepentant afterwards (or possibly in denial).
- she could not believe Pablo was responsible for the bombing of an airliner

(b) Contrast her "Christian" nature, having used Pablo's blood money for shopping, clothes, etc.. to Pablo's father who was living the simple life and was ashamed of his son.

I think maybe you should reconsider your empathy for her?

Are you *beep* serious? You felt bad for that hypocritical bitch who enabled a mass murderer? You're an idiot
