Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens : Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

While I was watching the movie I just assumed that this was the case and that they would reveal it at some later point in the movie, but they never did.

Then when I got on the internet I saw that, instead, most people thought Rey was the daughter of Luke Skywalker. Aren't Jedi supposed to be celibate?

Kylo Ren and his band of minions apparently killed all of the other jedi padawans that Luke was training, right? So why can't it be that Kylo CLAIMED that he killed his little sister when he was confronted by Han or Luke? But instead he abandoned her in a desert planet because he thought she would be of some use to him or whatever other reason they come up with in Episode 8.

That way Episode 8 very nicely mirrors The Empire Strikes Back with Ren saying "I am your brother".

I assumed that this had to be the case because A) Rey "inherits" the Millennium Falcon, B) Has natural piloting abilities, C) She would still be a Skywalker which would explain her force sensitivity, D) Kylo Ren mentions that she would have been disappointed in Han as a father figure if she had actually grown up with him

Abrams shamelessly ripped off the first Star Wars in TFA. Our hero, Rey (Luke), is called to action by a little robot in BB-8 (R2-D2), meets a mentor figure in Han Solo (Obi-Wan) who is eventually killed by a dark-hooded figure in Kylo Ren (Darth Vader) and a big planet-destroying spaceship called Starkiller Base (Deathstar) is the main problem in the story.

So it makes sense that they would continue ripping off the original movies by having Rey train with a new mentor who teaches her the intricacies of The Force in Luke (Yoda), and at the end the hero finds out that he/she is closely related to the dark-hooded figure Kylo Ren (Darth Vader). If This ISN'T the case then they will destroy the beautiful rip-off symmetry that they have created thus far. Another easy prediction is that either Benicio Del Toro or Laura Dern's or Kelly Tran's character will be a traitor (Lando) and that there will be a cool, mysterious actiony, non force-wielding character introduced (Boba Fett) in the new movie.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

No brother, no sister.
But there will be a traitor among the characters that you mentioned.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

My father was a Formula 1 race car driver! I was taken away from him when I was only 5, but one day when I was 20 I jumped in a F1 car and drove it flawlessly. Because as we all know, if your parent has done something for years, that learned ability gets genetically passed to their children. No extra skill needed. When I was out there on the track everyone knew I was James Hunts son, just because I knew how to drive.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

You ready for the truth about this?... Several sources (one of them JJ Abrams) have said that both Kylo Ren and Leia have had no previous relationship with Rey. That means that Rey could only possibly be Han's daughter, Kylo's half-sister, and not a Skywalker through Leia.

I'm not going to believe anything J-J says **cough**khan**cough**

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

If she is his sister, then only "Reylo" fans would be disappointed...

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

your theory is debunked by the canon timeline: the slaughter of the Jedi Temple II happened 6-7 years before TFA, Rey was left on Jakku at the age of 5, thus ten years before the slaughter. Also, if she was Han & Leia's daughter this would be the worst direction and storytelling in history, as Rey both meets Han and Leia without any indication of this.

Rey inherits the Falcon and is a naturel pilot, because she is written as a Mary Sue, just like with Force powers, hugs, shooting, language skills, mechanics etc and her being better with everything.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

How does that debunk the OP's theory? I actually was thinking the same thing when I was watching the movie.

Despite how bad you think the plot would play out it actually has some merit. It explains Rey's skills with the force which we know are strong with the skywalkers. On top of that we know nothing about Rey's family and not a whole lot of what happened after Return of the Jedi. Han and Leia could have had Rey and had to leave her for some reason. They could have put her in the trust of a guardian who had to leave her, that should sound really familiar.

I'm not saying this is the way it should turn out, but it's by no way out of the realm of possibilities. If i missed something concrete that isn't a rumor that proves this wrong, my bad.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

he suggested EmoRen saved his lil sister from the slaughter: this is debunked by the timeline as set up in the canon books and materials. Also, if Rey is Han/Leia's daughter, the film did a extremely poor job of portraying this affiliation when confroning EmoBen/Han/Leia, instead giving the impression that Rey is Luke's daughter.

Anyway both would be on "You are my sister, Leia" level of awesome, but not on "I am your father" level. I hope for something more original and thought through. Now that JJ Abrams and his writing-talent are gone, we still might get a chance at that.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

I'd prefer Rey and Kylo to be related by blood, and think there was enough there to suggest they could be, but will not assume that is the case.

Re: Rey Is Kylo Ren's Sister, No?

No.
