Star Wars: The Force Awakens : Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Since it kills solar systems and eats stars for 'energy' ...

Applause.

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Right? Could also call it the "one shot wonder"...without a sun nearby, does everyone on the surface of the base freeze to death?

Hoth 2.0

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

I'm sure they cabn Techobabble an explanation ad hoc, like "The planet is heated artificially by large planet generators" or some such.

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Supposedly they do in the novel, but it operates differently in the book compared to how it was described in the movie.

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Naming it Starkiller had nothing to do with trying to describe it's functionality. It was done for nostalgic reasons (surprise). Luke Skywalker's name was Luke Starkiller in early drafts of ANH.

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Yes that was what annoyed me the most regarding the use of 'Starkiller'; Luke's concept name.

Re: Shouldn't it be called 'Star Eater' or 'Solar System Killer'?

Maybe we should call it Death Star?
or maybe Star Destroyer?
Starkiller is the only actual device in a star wars movie that has killed a star...
it's name matters not, only what you do with it.
