Star Wars: The Force Awakens : Episode VII 35mm screening

Episode VII 35mm screening

Did TFA ever get a 35mm screening? I'm wondering because the color timing is atrocious in the theatrical release. There is an extensive amount of blue/teal throughout the movie.

No, there is not.

And yes, there was at least 1 print made but it came from the same master, so why would they look any different?

Re: Episode VII 35mm screening

Re-watch scenes that take place on Starkiller Base. The exterior sets have been completely transformed into another hue. Skin tones are mostly intact in the theatrical release, but everything else has been altered. Reds are over-saturated to the point where it looks as if they were magenta. The color grading makes it appear as if the walls were built teal. Look at this image for reference:

The background has underwent a full transformation from its natural colors. To further show that blue has a strong presence throughout the film, here is an onset photograph of Dan Mindel standing in the Cloud City corridors:

Re: Episode VII 35mm screening

there is a lot of unnatural lightning making parts of the film monochromatic or looking like a cartoon:

* like blueish (mostly in Falcon or the forest-stage saber fight), example

* like green/red/blue in Han's cargo ship

* or full-scale red

Nauseating IMHO. Otherwise there is some color grading with the not so occasional lens flare, but relatively harmless compared to other JJ or M Bay efforts, thanks to Lucas defining the classic SW style.

But all these are just executive distractions, what is really foul is the hack-ish script.
